New Booklet Describes Channels For Trading Abroad Deciding how and where to sell and buy abroad, the most import ant problem facing any new world trader, is pointed out in a booklet recently issued by the Department of Commerce, according to an an nouncement by C. W. Martin, manager of the Charleston Field Office. Designed as an introduc tion to the techniques of export ing, the new booklet, ‘‘Chnnela for Trading Abroad,” is for business men who are planning to enter the world trade field for the first time or to expand their trade abroad. The 24-page booklet gives a quick picture of the principal channels through which successful world traders export and import, and directs readers to sources of specific information. The pamphlet discusses the role of the export merchant, combina tion export manager, export agent, export commission house, export trade association, large company, and the buyer for ex port, as well aa the several types of company organizations, as U. ] S channels fdr exporting. The U. S. channels described for importing include the import mer chant, indent house, import com mission house, resident agent, im porting wholesaler or jobber, im port broker or factor, and the direct buyer. An important feature of the booklet is the guide to available lists of foreign importers, export ers, dealers, and distributors, grouoed by commodities handled and by countries. Thousands of such “trade lists” have been com piled by the Bureau of Foreign Commerce for areas where local conditions and promotion of trade with the United States warrant their preparation. Copies of “Channels for Trading Abroad” may bd obtained from the Charleston Field Office, locat ed in the Sergeant Jasper Build ing, for 2B cents.
