Some 110,000 Army troops, are
testing the latest concepts _ of
atomic, bacteriological, chemical
and electronic warfare.
Specialist Grigg’s unit, Battery

73rd Field Artillery Battalion,
will be regularly stationed at Fort
Polk, La.
Grigg’s father lives on Route J,
Kings Mountain, N. C. He attend

To Resume Training

The Newberry College Indians,
champions of South Carolina’s

resume training Thursday for
their December 10 date with un
defeated Lenoir-Rhyne in the sec

team among the smaller colleges
of North Carolina. For another,
the battled to a thrill-packed, 13

this season. This is the only

Coach Kirkland is hoping that,
tho week-long respite for his
squad will give his All-State
quarterback, Danny Rrabham, a
chance to mend. Brabham broke
a bone in his throwing hand dur
ing practice for the Presbyterian
game, but still managed to direct
the Indians to two touchdowns on
the ground. The big hope is that
his band will mend so that he can
again unlimber his deadly passing
arm, one of Newberry’s most po
tent weapons all season long.
The North Carolinians also took
a few days off after walloping Ca
.Jawba in their season’s finale, but
a?T now back at work. Interest

many supporters of both Lenoir
Rhyne and Newberry are expect
ed to ioin thousands of Shriners
and Columbia football followers
for the game in Columbia. Re

Lenoir-Rhyne team .are that plans
have already been made to char
ter buses for a mortorcade. Tick
ets are moving briskly in New
berry also.
Shrine officials are planning to
have 20 high school bands on
hand for the game, ten from the
lower and ten from the upper
state. They will be joined in a
big parade the day o.f the game
by Shrine bands from throughout
the state.
The game will be played in the
University of South Carolina sta
dium, with the kickoff at 2 o clock
on December 10.

First Lady’s Pumpkin Chiffon Pie
Heads Congressional Club Recipes
In time for Thanksgiving and holiday festive menus is Mamie
Doud Eisenhower’s favorite recipe for pumpkin chiffon pie. The
First Lady contributed her pet recipe to the 1955 edition of the
Congressional Club Cookbook.
The club in Washington, D. C. is an organization of congressional
wives and women legislators. Their cookbook just off the press boasts
personally handwritten favorites of almost 400 wives of senators,
representatives, Supreme Court justices and cabinet members and
of women legislators.
The cookbook recipes cover every section of the United States,
Hawaii and Alaska. Priced at $2.50 plus 25 cents for mailing, the
cookbook may be ordered from the Congressional Club, 2001 New
Hampshire Avenue, Washington, D. C.
Here is Mrs. Eisenhower’s pumpkin chiffon pie contribution. '
Pumpkin Chiffon Pie

*4 cup brown sugar
1 Uj cups cooked pumpkin
>2 cup milk
*4 teaspoon salt
x kcaspuun cinnamon
H teaspoon nutmeg
1 envelope Knox gelatin
}■i cup cold water
3 stiffly beaten egg whites

Combine egg yolks, brown sugar, pumpkin, milk, salt and epioe.
Cook in double boiler until thick, stirring constantly. Soak gelatin
in cold water, stir into hot mixture. Chill until partly set. Beat egg
whites, add granulated sugar, and beat stiff. Fold into gelatin mix
ture. Pour into baked pie shell and chill until set Garnish with
whipped cream.
Makes one big pis or 8 individual piss.
