treasurer’s report.
During the business session sev
eral items were discussed and
passed upon. Mrs. Berlin Car
penter gave a report on the re
cently held County Council meet- *
ing, and preesnted Mrs. A. L.
Kiser, a pin designating her a
new membeu of Gaston ounty
Honor Club. Mrs. Kiser has at
tended Farm and Home Week the
number of years required to make
'her eligible for membership.
St. Mark’s Club is very proud
to have one of its members an
Honor Club member.
It was decided that the Decem
ber meeting, which is Family
Night Month will be a .Christmas
Party and will be held Saturday

a covered dish supper served at 7
o’clock, p.m.
“Housing” was the topic of the
Demonstration presided over by
Home Agent, Miss Lucile Tatum.

essary to make a house a home.

opened for postal inspection’
along with your return address
and the recipient’s address on the
mailing label. If you use Christ
mas stickers or seals put them on
the back of your Christmas cards
and packages so that they will not
conflict with the address on the
front. Before you release your
packages be sure that proper post
age is firmly affixed to each and
it’s a good idea to place a piece
of transparent cellophane tape
over the address portion of the
label to prevent defacing it in
transit. Make sure, of course, to

street address, city, zone end

Funeral services for Mrs. .1. T.
Houser were held Tuesday after
noon at 4 o’clock from David’s
Chapel Methodist Church in Clove-1
land county. Mrs. Houser, 79. of
Lawndale, Route 2, died in the I
Shelby Hospital Monday after
noil at 1 o’clock following a three I
weeks illness: Rev. W. II. Yoke- I
ly and Rev. ,1. C. Swain officiated. I
Interment took place in the
church cemetery.
She was first married to Rob
ert, Williams and from this union
was one son, Sam Williams,
Lawndale. Route 2. who survives.
Also surviving are the following

to Mr. Houser who preceded her

News From Library
During Book Week the three
third grades from Bast Elemen
tary School visited the Library.
These were the grades of Mrs.
Crocker, Mrs. Larson, *nd ^
Wells. Some of the children had
never before been in a Library,
l and had many questions to aafc A
number of them returned later in
the week and obtained Borrowers
cards.
1 Darius Carpenfed has donated a
juvenile book, “A Book of He
roes” to the Library. Mrs. Janies
Putnam also has given several
Zane Grey books and two Histori
cal novels.
