A car of feed wheat contain ing 1500 bushels was unloaded at Gates Monday and Tuesday of this week by 30 farmers for feed ing of hogs and poultry. The wheat, which comes in bulk from the wid-west now costs $1.37 a bushel at the delivery point for orders of 100 bushels or more; or $1.40 for orders less than 100 bushels. The Gates County AAA com mittee, J. C. Vann, chairman; T. B. Parker and T. J. Stallings, authorizes the secretary, ’ Mrs. Mildred Hill, to order' the wheat when a car load is requested by our farmers. Since last September 12 car loads, approximately 20,000 bushels, have been unloaded' at Gates and Roduco. Our 13th car is being made up how, for de livery in November: Send yours in immediately if you need a good feed to make your corn last longjer. (William) Lassiter of near, Sunbury had found a boll of cotton with six locks—a most unusual find we’ll admit. Now comes along another cotton grower and close observer, Her bert C. Hudgins, of the Zion neighborhood showing a 7-loclt cotton boll, a rare find indeed. Yes,! sir, there are seven com plet^d and distinct parts compos ing the boll. The variety of cot ton !is not known but it is pre sumably Coker 100. t PREPARING FOR THANKSGIVING Mj\ and Mrs. J. H. (Haywood) Bunch of Selwyn have a nice lot of turkeys, about 80, all. of which wer^ raised with turkey hens. If ell goes v/ell they’ll be just right at ’thanksgiving and Christmas time. The entire lot was vac cinated 10 days ago for sore head. ; 4-H CLUB OFFICERS Congratulations to the 4-H Club officers who were elected last week to lead their clubs dur ing the present school year.
