Men 18 To 25 Still Are Under WMC Control According to information re ceived from the State Director of Selective Service for North-Caro lina, the “job-jumping” provi sions of the Regulations remain in full force and effect as to registrants ages 18 through 25. Recent publicity relating to the release of manpower controls by other Government agencies may have given the erroneous im pression that it is no longer ne cessary for them to obtain a favorable determination from local boards before leaving the employment for which they are deferred. Therefore, this is to remind re gistrants of Gates County Local Board No. 1, who are in the 18 through 25 age group, that they are still subject to the provi sions and that if they leave err^ ployment for which they have been deferred without a favor able determination from their Local Board, they will be placed in a class available for service, according to Mrs. Lillie M. Mrs. Webb thought perhaps a little extra loose salt, besides the salt brick, might give the cow an ap petite. The, loose salt was pro vided in ample quantity and sure enough the cow’s appetite picked up and she started graz ing again,” the agent continued. “All livestock producers and family cow owners may learn something from this,” he added. “It pays to supply an adequate amount of loose salt in addition to the salt brick in order to meet the requirements of the ani mals.” The agent said: “Salt require ments differ for each class of animals. They differ even with animals in the same class. Furth ermore, they differ with the season of the year and with the kind of feed. Only by feeding salt free choice can we be sure that livestock are getting all the salt they want when they want it.” Chowan county is reported to have only about one-third as much acreage to cotton as three years ago.
