John S. Rawls, USN, and Mrs. Rawls and children of San Fran cisco, Calif., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Rawls. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Liniger of Kinston and Sgt. and Mrs. Harry Liniger of Langley Field, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baines of Suffolk and Miss Mable Baines of Portsmouth visited their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Baines, during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Raby of Suffolk visited Mrs. Etta Hayes Saturday. They were accompani ed by Martha Emily Hayes, also of Suffolk, great granddaughter of Mrs. Hayes. Mr. Imd Mrs. LeRoy Taylor, Miss Phillis B. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bennett and son of Portsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bundy and W. N. Carter visited Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Eure, Sun day. Dr. and Mrs. M. M. Lilley and son are visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Boyce. Miss Alice Rowe and Mrs. Ro bert Guy Smith of Hampton were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Rhodes. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. David Jones, and daughter, Ellen, of Norfolk. Mrs. R. S. Boyce. Jr., of New port News, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Boyce, Sr. She was accompanied home by her son, R. S. Boyce, III, who had spent the past three weeks here with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Boyce and son, Edward Lee, of Hobb sville, Mr. and Mrs. John Gray and son, Eugene, of Sunbury. Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Lassiter and daughter. Dorothy Jean, and R. A. Brown, Jr., visited Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Baines Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Caval laro and son left last Thursday for Kansas City. Mo., where they will make their home. Mrs. G. C. Eason spent last week with her mother, Mrs. W. H. Akers, in Newport News. Harry Ward, U. S. Navy, spent the weekend with his wife, Mrs. Ward. Mrs. Robert Eason spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. A. E. Ridgeway, in Roanoke. Thomas Lloyd Eure of Ports mouth spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Eure. Barnes and Erma Lee* Brinkley Married Sept. 21 In Portsmouth Portsmouth.—The marriage of Miss Erma Lee Brinkley of Sun bury, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Brinkley of Sunbury, to Cpl. Vincent Earl Barnes of the AAF, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Barnes of Corapeake, was solemnized Friday, September 21, at the Monumental Methodist church in Portsmouth. The bride was dressed in navy blue with navy accessories and wore a shoulder corsage of American beauty roses. Mrs. Barnes, before her mar riage, was employed by the Chesapeake and Potomac Tele phone Company of Virginia. The groom has served three years in the U. S. Army Air Forces, having spent the past two years in England. At the time of his marriage he was spending a 30-day furlough at the home of his parents. Immediately after the cere mony the bride and groom left on a wedding trip to the Blue Ridge mountains. WEEKEND IN HOBBSVILLE Norfolk.—Miss Cora Mae Bag ley of Norfolk, just recently re turned from a week in New York City, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. -and Mrs. R. E. Bagley of Holjbsville. Gatesville 4-H Group Meets Gatesville.—The 4-H club held its regular meeting Tuesday morning in the school auditorium.
