NOW HEALTHY INFANT.
Little Rosemary Mowen, whose
birth one year ago made medi
cal history, is now a fine
healthy child. Her mother was
removed from an iron lung in
order that Rosemary could be

Peanut Crop
Is Harvested
Gatesville.-^Peanut picking is
still going on in this county, but
the majority of the crop has al
ready been harvested. Farmers
have averaged making only 60
percent of a normal crop.
Showers in the Virginia-Caro
lina area have delayed harvest
ing slightly. However farmers’
stocks are moving to the mills
rapidly. Quality is generally fair
but size is running smaller than
usual for this area.
Harvesting is estimated to be
about 95 percent completed in
the Texas-Oklahoma area with
most of the crop already mark
eted. Quality of the crop in North
Texas and Oklahoma is better
than the crop of last season. Both
meat content and size are good.
Demand for shelled and clean
ed peanuts in all sections con
tinues far in excess of the aavil
able supply. In the Southwest
some Runners are still being
booked for future shipment but
most shellers have withdrawn on
Spanish futures. Most shellers
have withdrawn on late spring
orders.
Farmers’ stock peanuts in the
various sections are generally
moving at scheduled prices based
on percentage of sound mature
kernels. Shelled and cleaned
goods continue to sell at ceiling.
Many North Carolina farmers
are missing a real opportunity of
making good money by not rais
ing sheep, say county agents of
the State College Extension
Service.
RICHEST CAT HIES. “Bus
ter,” plutocrat of feline world
is dead—“intestate” — leaving
no will and no recognized
heirs. The late Woodbury
Rand, Boston attorney, who
died in July, 1944, left $40,000
to care for “Buster.” A legal
fight is expected over “Bus
ter’s” estate.
