The committee was aided in its work of setting out the plants by Miss Ona Patterson, county home demonstration agent, and John W. Artz, county agent. Nine of the shrubs were pur chased from nur&sries, while the others were transplanted from other positions on the church grounds. Saturday morning the committee placed the shrubs along the front of the church, at the steps and on two sides. In addition top soil and fertilizer tvere placed around the work. Included in the plants now in place in the beautification are wax-leaf privet, abelias, spirea, wiegelia, hydrangeas, jessamine and euonymus! Church members who volun teered their services for the landscaping project are the fol lowing: Mrs. T. C. Lawrence, Mrs. J. B. Perry, Mrs. Claudia Lassiter, Miss Ruth Parker, V. M. Parker and Mrs. Parker, Ran dolph 'J'inkham, Felton Landing, M. F. Eure, Bob Eure, Claude Felton and Melvin Felton. Home Ec Teachers Meet At Rich Square Rich Square.—The Vocational Economics Teachers of North ampton, Berti-s, Halifax, and Hertford counties' met in the Rich Square Home Economics Department on March 18th. The meeting was called to or der by the president, Mrs. Car roll Parker, after which the se cretary read the minutes of the last meeting. The program for April was planned after which the meeting was turned over to the program chairman, Miss Camille Clark. She introduced Miss Christine Britt of Ahoskie, who gave a demonstration on up holstering. The program was a worthwhile and interesting one. The meeting adjourned to meet one month hence in the Rich Square Home Economics Department. Tinkhams Celebrate Golden Wedding Day Corner High.—Mr., and Mrs. J. P. Tinkham celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday, March 24th. They were honored by hav ipg all their children home for the first time in four years, due to the war. Mr. and Mrs. Tinkham had open house in the' afternoon from three to five. The house was decorated throughout with lovely spring cut flowers. The table had as centerpiece, a three-tired wedding cake, and yellow daffodils on either end. Mrs. J. A. Tinkham presided over tb& punch bowl. Punch, cookies and nuts were served to the guests. Approximately one hundred and twenty-five guests called. Mr. and Mrs. Tinkhdfn were presented with many lovely gifts. Among the Sick Perry Harrell is sick at his home here. Mrs. Caroline Eure, of Roduco J, B. Rountree and J. J. Riddick of Gatesville are patients at Nor folk General hospital, Norfolk. Easons Cross Roads.—Mrs. J. E. Green is receiving treatment at Lakeview hospital, Suffolk. Gatesville. — Kay Brown un derwent a appendicitis operation at Lakeview hospital, Monday morning. Roduco Nick Long of Atlanta, Ga., spent a few days last week with his mother, Mrs. Nick Long. Mrs. Earlie Sanderson of Wal lace spent a few days with her mother, Mrs. C. E. Eure.
