Mr. and Mrs. Mar vis Jones, Mrs. J. C. Blanchard, Bradford Jones and Miss Iva Jones visited Mrs. Amanda Jones at Lakeview hospital during the weekend. Baines Sunday. HOME CLUB MEETING CorapeakeThe April meet ing of. the Corapeake home dem onstration club was held Thurs day at the home of Mrs. Hom er Eure. Book reviews were given by Mrs. Lewis Mathias. Mrs. Hal lett Rountree and Mrs. H. A. Eure. Miss Ona Patterson, home agent, gave a talk on ‘‘Home Demonstration Week," the theme being "Today's Home Builds To morrow's World." A surprise stork shower was given Mrs. Hallett Rountree and the recreational leader, Mrs. El ton Taylor, conducted a contest. The winner was Miss Patterson. Her gift was turned over by her to the honoree, Mrs. Rountree. The hostesses, Mrs. Willie By rum and Mrs. Elton Taylor served a delicious salad plate to the following: Mrs. Lewis Math ias, Mrs. Clyde Benton, Mrs. W. K. Parker, Mrs. Raymond Gre gory, Mrs. M. A. Sunbury Home Club Met With Mrs. Hill Sunbury-—The Sunbury Home Demonstration Club met Thurs day afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. O. Hill. Reports were given on the District meeting which was held recently at Hert ford .Those attending were Mes damts C. F. Copeland, W. O. Hill, Curtis Dowdy, Lloyd Wig gins and Emory Rountree. Cleaning and adjusting the sewing machine, was demon strated by Miss Patterson. One new member, Mrs. Frak Rice, was added to the roll. Oth ers present, were Mesdames C. F. Copela'nd. Curtis Dowdy, A. V. Hofler. G. D. Asbell, Emory Rountree, Lloyd Wiggins, Miss Fatterson and one visitor. Ice cream and cookies were served. Swisher-Mitchell Suffok.—The marriage of Miss Carie Cornelia Mitchell, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Claudius Mitchell of Hobbsville, and Alva Willard Swisher of Suffolk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Swisher of Gallapolis, Ohio, was solemn ized on Saturday, April 27, at the West End Baptist church parsonage with Dr. S. T. Habel officiating. The bride was dressed in a rose suit worn with black ac cessories and an orchid corsage. Her sister, Mrs. J. S. Brumsey of Norfolk, was matron of honor. Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Swisher left for a wed ding trip and on their return will reside at 127 Bank street, Suf folk. Felton-Myers Eure.—Gladwell Felton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Fel ton of Eure, and Miss Nina Lee Myers of Philadelphia, Pa., were married last Saturday by the Rev. T. A. Collins, Methodist pastor, in services performed at his home at Gatesville. The bridal couple left Satur day evening for Philadelphia for a brief honeymoon, following which they will make their home near Eure. MISSIONARY MEETING Eure. — Mrs. Novie Greene, Mrs. Meedie Felton and Mrs. Ernest Smith were joint hos tesses to the Missionary Society of Eure’s Christian Church in the home of Mrs. Ernest Smith Saturday afternoon. The devotional was conducted by Mrs. Bill Johnson. Mrs. Els worth Winslow read a selection. Five dollars was given by the society for ■ Cancer Control to Mrs. Timothy Eure who was guest at the meeting.
