Wedding Held
The wedding' of Madge Louise
Griffin, daughter of Mrs. Wil
lie S. Holloman of Mapleton, and
Thomas Alton Ijmphlett of Eure,
son of Mrs. Ruth A. Umphlett,
was solemnized at the Mt. Ta
bor Baptist church near Mur
freesboro on Sunday afternoon,
June 23. The ceremony was per- |
formed by the Rev. J. LinWood
Jones, pastor of the bride.
Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. K.
E. Stokes, pianist, and Annie
Lois Anderson, soloist, rendered
nuptial music.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her uncle, L. T. Hollo
mon of Harrellsville. Miss Mary
Ellen Griffin of Branchville, Va.,
sister of the ibride, attended as
maid of honor and bridesmaids
were Ruth Powell of Suffolk,
cousin of the bride, and Helen
Holmes Duncan of Murfrees
boro.
The groom had as his best man
his twin brother, Eldon Umph
lett. Groomsmen were Tommy
Lee Felton and Clarence Evans
of Portsmouth.
Immediately after the cere
mony, the couple left on a trip
to Washington, D. C., after which
they will return to Eure to make
their home with the groom’s
mother.
