Mr. and Mrs. Paul Liniger of Harbinger visited Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Parker Friday. Robin Hood of Hickory spent a few days here last week. Charles Blair has returned to Chapel Hill after visiting his wife a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baker of Holland, Mrs. C.. C. Russell and Marvin Russell of Whaleyville, and Miss Eva Hayes were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Western Sunday. Mrs. Elizabeth Crouse visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Jean Parker is visiting rela tives in Harbinger this week. Umphlett - Griffin Wedding Held The wedding' of Madge Louise Griffin, daughter of Mrs. Wil lie S. Holloman of Mapleton, and Thomas Alton Ijmphlett of Eure, son of Mrs. Ruth A. Umphlett, was solemnized at the Mt. Ta bor Baptist church near Mur freesboro on Sunday afternoon, June 23. The ceremony was per- | formed by the Rev. J. LinWood Jones, pastor of the bride. Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. K. E. Stokes, pianist, and Annie Lois Anderson, soloist, rendered nuptial music. The bride was given in mar riage by her uncle, L. T. Hollo mon of Harrellsville. Miss Mary Ellen Griffin of Branchville, Va., sister of the ibride, attended as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Ruth Powell of Suffolk, cousin of the bride, and Helen Holmes Duncan of Murfrees boro. The groom had as his best man his twin brother, Eldon Umph lett. Groomsmen were Tommy Lee Felton and Clarence Evans of Portsmouth. Immediately after the cere mony, the couple left on a trip to Washington, D. C., after which they will return to Eure to make their home with the groom’s mother.
