Little Thelma White is spend ing a few days with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Bunch. Mrs. George H. Baker and son, James, Mrs. Locke Baker and children of Tyner were the guests of Mrs. Barton Hoffler last week. Sunbury Mr. and Mrs. B. L. White and daughter of Minola High School spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Corbitt. Mrs. Helen Taylor and Miss Florence Hill of Baltimore are visiting their brother, J. R. Hill. Missionary Society With Mrs. Johnson Sunbury.—The Missionary So ciety of Damascus Christian Church held 'its monthly meet ihg at the home of Mrs. E. A. Johnson. Thursday afternoon, August 8. Mrs. A. V. Hofler pre sided and conducted devotionals. A committee composed of Mrs. J. S. Pierce, Mrs.' Wilbur Carter and Miss Lucy Lassiter was appointed to bring in a slate of pfficers for the coming year at the next monthly meeting which will be held with Misses Annie and Lucy Lassiter Sept ember 5. After a lengthy business per iod, the meeting was turned over to the program committee, Mrs. J.’ S. Pierce and Mrs. J. E. Cor bitt. Their topic was “In the Field with Jesus.” Those on pro gram were Mrs. L. E. McCoy, Mrs. J. E, Corbitt, Mrs. J. M. Byrum and Mrs. Almira Hinton. During the social hour, Mrs. Johnson was assisted in serving iced drinks, cookies, nuts and mints by Mrs. L. E. McCoy and Jimmie Parker. Ladies' Aid Society With Mrs. Eure Roduco.—The Ladies Aid So ciety of Eure Christian Chur*ch held its monthly meeting Sat urday, July 27, in the home of Mrs. Caroline Eure. Those attending were Mes dames Gordon Eure, Johnnie Trotville Mr. and Mrs. Otha Riddick and children and Mr. and Mrs. Walace. Morris of Portsmouth attended the “Lost Colony” on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Perkins and daughter, Marjorie, of Nor folk visited Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Riddick during the weekend. Messers. Frank and Carroll Hill of New Haven, Conn., and Norfolk visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Riddick Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Swisher of Suffolk spent the weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Benton and Mr. and Mrs. Lamor Benton en tertained relatives from Norfolk during the weekend. Mrs. G. W. Riddick, wfro has been quite sick, is able to be out. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Worrell and children of Swan Quarter visited Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Rid dick and Mrs. Eason during the weekend. Askew, Caroline Eure, .Katie Greene, Joseph Eure, Richard Eure, Lugene Felton, Norfleet Felton, Bill Johnson, Elsworth Winslow, Bill Horton, Nettie Eure, Timothy Eure, Hogood Umphlett and Annie Greene. After the business meeting was concluded, refreshments of ice cream, cake and nuts were served. Mrs. Timothy Eure was a visitor at the meeting.
