It is said that if the wash boiler is wiped out with a cloth wet with kerosene, before putting it away, it will not rust. FINGER MARKS ON PAINT You can remove finger marks on paint by rubbing with a clean soft cloth moistened with kerosene. Wipe off afterwards with a dry cloth. “Happiness is My Birth right.” “Innocent happiness,” says an old French writer is my birthright, given to me by God. God may bid me to give it up in His service, or in that of my fellow man; but if he does not so bid me, it is my right to keep it, and keep it I will by every means in my power!” What a blessing it would be to us all if we had and could hold this old Frenchman’s sound and rational ideas. We are apt^t^ try to be happy only when the skies are bright, and everything is well with us. We should not let the every day annoyances or even real griefs conquer us, remembering that they who give up under their burdens are not as strong as they who carry it cheerfully. We forget that “happiness is our birthright,” that our family and our friends, have a right to expect from us a cheerful face. Gloomy views of life are destructive not only to our own happiness, but they des troy also the cheerfulness of all upon whom we can exert an influ ence. It is so much better to pre sent a cheerful face even amid dif Acuities, than to load the backs of our neighbors with our troubles. It is often hard, but always worth while to keep a cheerful view of life, when incessant annoyances are rasping the temper, and some rea grief tugging at the heart. An oft neglected aid to happiness is con genial companionship, but we do not have to choose our friends be cause they live next door, or mar ried in the family, if we do not fine them congenial. Ther? are some people, you may meet them every day, but they seem like a stranger still. There are others whose na tures responds to your own, who understand your highest hopes by instinct. You can make of these your intimate friends. They are worth while and easy to keep. Another good tonic for the mind is the daily indulgence of some thing apart from the profession, or daily household duties. Whether i ; be photography, the study of a lan guage, or any innocent hobby, it is a safety-valve through which much worry escapes unconsciously. oerfect fellowship of those who heve learned to forget self in the . oys of others. And as home finds its center in the one who most per- T-ctly exemplifies the love which is it‘> life—generally in the home making mother-^so heaven finds its center in Him whose life was the perfect exemplification of the spirit of sacrifice, its character. Sunder the life of man from His, “That where I am there ye may be also,” is either in this world or the next, and you leave it to the con tention and strife which constitute he misery of our human condition. With Jesus Christ as its center, leaven becomes intelligible as the eternal fellowship of joy and peace.—Canadian Churchman. So w'ill He vouchsafe to take up His abode with us; the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, will dwell in us, and be in us, and Christ will love us, and ill manifest Himself to us, and the Father will love us, and They will come unto us, and make Their abode with us. It is not the walls of a house that make a home, for many who are housed well enough are yet homeless, hav ing none of the joys of mutual kindness and help which bind men and women in the life of the home., Nor is home an internal condition of feeling, but a fellowship which ta*kes us out of ourselves and our feelings, and makes us feel with and for others.
