Report Your Warehouse.
Members of the Farmers Union should get acquainted with the organization.
They should know what the organization is doing, and should at all times keep
up with the work of the Union in North Carolina.
During the next twelve months we hope to be in position to give to our read
ers an occasional report of the work the Farmers Union has done and what it is
doing. A large number of the members know nothing of the organization, and
in fact only a few officials of the North Carolina Division are really acquainted
with the actual results accomplished in this State. We can guess pretty well as
to membership, but when we come down to sum up the work of the organization
in the State, since May 1908, we can only guess or make an estimate.
We are going to take an inventory and see just where we stand in the matter
of building cotton and tobbaco warehouses, cotton gins, co-operative stores, etc.
During the last few months there have been a large number of Union enterprises
incorporated in various parts of the State, but at the present time there is no
record in the possession of the State officers as to the actual amount of money
that has been invested or with what success these various enterprises have met.
We want to find out, and if you have a warehouse, prizery, store, creamery or
oil mill in your neighborhood that is owned by Union members, let u$ have a re
port of same.
Send us a list of your officers, amount of authorized stock, amount paid in,
and when organized, together with any other information that you desire to give.
County Secretaries can greatly aid us in this work if they will send us a list
of Union enterprises in their county, and the name and manager of the same.
