Dorothy Mills was the most success ful '"backward" speller and reecived as a prize one of St. Patrick's green snakes. An interesting contest then lollowed In which Fannie Foy and Ed mund Watt proved to be the couple who gave the greatest number of cot rect ana wers and they were presented with a box of dainty Irish linen eta tonery; while John Satterfleld and Elizabeth Brooks won the consolation a tiny pot of shamrock. At ten o'clock the guests, led by the president of the Junior class, found their places, by means of Irish cards, at small tables which were placed in the halls and music room of the second floor of the building. From the tables which had been made ar tistic by the use of candles, jonquils, and shamrocks, the guests were serv ed an ice course land bon-bons in which the color scheme was green and white. The young people reluctantly dis bursed; all unanimous in praising their hosts' the Juniors. BUSINESS BUILDERS LOST, WANTED, ETC. HOPPER ITEMS Quite a number of our young people intended the Hickory school com mencement. The D. R. Literary Society of Dan River school held its last meeting on March 9th, with quite a large crowd present. Mrs. W. H. Ferguson has been the Jones of Reidsville. Mlis Neil Hopper is spending some time in Danville with her sister, Mrs. ere being beautified with shrubbery, ! guest of her daughter, Mrs., Frank plants and flowers which are being planted this week. V Governor Bickett has designated April Fith as "Planting Day." Every available plot of ground should be made to produce food. Food will be what we most need and now that spring is here it is seed time let the harvest be greater than ever.
