Talks On Astronomy
Rev. W. A. Jenkins, pastor of the
First Methodist church, of this city,
Tuesday morning made a talk on
astronomy before local high school
students, assembled in the chapel.
The stage was transformed into a
veritable sky as Mr. Jenkins brought
with him the sun and its eight plan
ets and their moons. Especially en
tertaining was his comparison of the
solar system in space to six grains
of dust in the Grand Central station
of New York city. He left no doubts
as to the immensity of space with
figures relating to the sizes and dis
tance of heavenly bodies.
