Boone for summer vaca i tion. Jonesville Faculty Honored With Lovely Party Honoring the members of the Jonesville faculty, Mesdames 'o. E. Boles and M. A. Holoomb, entertain ed Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Boles. In the living room and dining room amid a springlike setting of tulips, iris and other spring flowers, six tables were made up for bingo. Prizes were won by Mrs. L. S. Weav er and Mrs. Orville Myers. Addition al guests of the evening were Mrs. L. S. Weaver, Messrs. W. V. Holcomb, O. E. Boles, M. A\ Holcomb and Fred Key, of Boonville. After the game, the hostesses served a salad course. P.-T. A. Meets The Jonesville P.-T. A. held its monthly meeting Tuesday night at the local auditorium with a large attendance. During the business period the of ficers for 1936-37 were elected, namely, Mrs. O. E. Boles, secretary, and Mr. Johnson Steelman, treas urer. The society was entertained by a program from first and second grade children and was enjoyed by ' all present. Mcßride and Miss Mildred Harris !of Jonesville, were the guests a I while one day last week of Mrs. J. T. Triplett and Mrs. D. S. Gilliam. Mrs. J. G. Gilliam of Elkin, visit ed her cousin, Mrs. W. H. She had been spending some time with her sister at Sparta. Her brother, Ralph, accompanied her home. Late in the afternoon they went to Ronda to visit a while with Mrs. Frazier's brother, Mr. Neal Henderson and Mrs. Henderson. Several people from here attended the singing at Pleasant Hill church, near Elkin, last Sunday afternoon. Lelia Foster Martin, colored, wife of John Martin, passed away at her home near here last Sunday night. Mr. C. A. Osborn had the misfor tune to lose a fine cow last wfeek. SWAN CREEK Rev. N. T. Jarvis filled his regu lar appointment at the Swan Creek Baptist church last Sunday. Due to a slight illness Rev. Jarvis did not preach Sunday. Rev. R. J. Pardue supplied for him. Several cases of measles have been reported in this community. No se vere cases have been reported. Sunday school attendance Is in creasing. There were 219 present Sunday. Funeral services were held Friday at the Swan Creek church for the fourteen month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R..Adams. The rites were in charge of Rev. R. J. Pardue and interment was in the church ceme tery. Miss Minnie Haynes of the Fall Creek community was the guest Thursday night of Miss Virginia Lee Swaim, Harvey Couch spent Saturday in Wilkesboro, attending to business matters. Miss Anna Lee Swaim of Ronda spent Sunday with her cousin, Miss Pansy Bell.
