Thursday, Febmary 18,1937 Parent-Teachers To Meet Tuesday The monthly meeting of the Parent-Teacher Assolcation will Be held Tuesday afternoon, Feb ruary 23, at 3:30, in the element ary school auditorium. All mem bers are requested to attend. Methodist S. S. Enjoys Valentine Party Friday The high school pupils of the Sunday school of the Methodist church enjoyed a St. Valentine party Friday evening at the church. Games and contests were enjoyed, under the direction of Mrs. George Royall. The party was sponsored by the Woman's Missionary Society of the churcih. Sandwiches and hot chocolate were served the 32 guests at the conclusion of the games. Benefit Parties Are Success: Big Sum Realized for Auxiliary A total of $59.50 was realized from the benefit parties sponsor ed Friday afternoon and evening at Hotel Elkin by the Woman's Auxiliary of Hugh Chatham Me morial Hospital, according to a statement by Mrs. A. O. Bryan, president of the auxiliary. At tractive and valuable prizes, do nated by local merchants and bus iness firms were awarded at each party. Mrs. Bryan and the as sociation as a whole wish to ex press their sincere appreciation for the fine cooperation and in terest, especially to the business men for their donations and to Mesdames C. L. The wedding was solemnized Saturday, February 13, in Dobson. The bride Is the daughter of Ira Whitaker and the late Mrs. Eliza White Whitaker and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Axsom. They are making their home with the bridegroom's parents. ' • Mrs. Salmons is Hostess to Mason Lillard Bible Class Mrs. H. C. Salmons entertained the Mason Lillard Bible Class of the Methodist Sunday school at the regular business-social meet ing at- her home on Church Street Monday evening, with ten members present. Miss Blanche Dixon, class pres ident, presided over the meeting and conducted the devotionals. The program consisted of cur rent news events of interest given by each member. Refreshments were served dur ing a pleasant social hour at the conclusion of tlife business meet ing. Young Matrons Class Meets The Young Matrons class of the Sunday school of the First Bap tist church met in the church parlor Tuesday evening in the regular monthly business session with eleven members present. Williams -Combs Vows Solemnized Miss Catherine Williams and Edward Combs, both of Reidsville, were united in marriage Sunday, February 7, at Grassy Creek Methodist church, near Elkin. Revn T. G. Williams of Rondn, pastor of the church and father of the bride, officiated, using the impressive ring ritual of the church. The bride is the daughter of Rev. Williams of Ronda, and the late Mrs. Williams. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Laster Combs of Reidsille, Routa 1, and is connected with the City Barber Shop there. ' They are making their home at 237 Lawsonille Avenue, Reidsville. Thursday Book Club Meets With Mrs. Mason Lillard Members of the Thursday Book Club were' delightfully entertain ed Thursday by Mrs. Mason Lil lard at her home on Gwyn Ave nue. The home was artistically decorated with early spring flow ers. Dominoes were played ati three tables. Mrs. G. P. Dockery re ceived the high score award at the conclusion of the play. New club books for the year were distributed during the busi ness meeting and other routine matters were dispatched. A tempting collation in two courses was served. Members present were: Mes dames W.
