PLEASANT HILL | Last Saturday and Sunday be ing our regular meeting days, the pastor, Rev. isom Vestal, deliver ed two wonderful messages. At the Sunday school hour, D. w. Day, superintendent of the Sunday school, gave some interesting thoughts cm the lesson. We hope to make a new record of 300 pres ent next Sunday. Every one is in vited to attend. "Uncle" Bart Couch is ill at his home, we are sorry to note. Miss Grace Barker spent the week-end at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barker, at Benham. Miss Paye Cockerham is spend ing a few weeks with her brother, Roy Cockerham, at Austin. There will be a prayer meeting service at Pleasant Hill next Sim day evening at 7 o'clock. The pub lic is invited to attend. We are glad to have Miss Ver melle Money back in Sunday school after an illness of several weeks. Ed Carter is ill at his home, we are sorry to note. J. T. Cockerham spent Sunday with his son, Ray Cockerham, at Austin. PASTORS AND DEACONS TO MEET NEXT SUNDAY The pastors and deacons meet ing of tht Yadkin Baptist Asso ciation will be held at Boonville Baptist church next Sunday, Feb ruary 28, beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon. The general theme of the meet ing will be Pastoral Work, and the program has been outlined as follows: Devotionkl by Rev. J. p. Davis, the pastor; "Calling a Pas tor," by Rev. G. D. Renegar; "The Relation of the Church to the by Rev. M. P. Reavis; "The Relation of the Pastor to the Church," L. H. Todd; "The Rela tion of the Board of Deacons to the Church and Pastor," by Rev. E. C. Norman. THURMOND WOMAN DIES OF PARALYTIC STROKE Mrs. Malinda Jane Tilley Cau dle, 59, wife of Ruffin Caudle of Thurmond, passed away at her home early Monday night, from a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Caudle was a native of Surry county and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Tilley. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from White Rock church, in charge of Rev. Mack Roberts, interment was in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Pfaf?, of Winston-Salem, and Miss Audrey Caudle, of the home, and one sister, Mrs. Annie Brown, of Lynchburg, Va. BRICK BUILDING HERE SLOWLY MOVING ALONG Actual moving of the one-story brick office building of Dr. E. G. Click was begun here Wednesday morning as preparations for the rolling were completed. Undermined and resting on three sets of rollers, the brick building had been moved about eight feet Wednesday afternoon along a carefully prepared and leveled track. It will be placed adjacent to Lawrence Cleaners' building in order to make more room for construction of the El kin postoffice. GREENWOOD DIES SATURDAY » • Deceased Was Native of Snr ry County; Had Been Jp Long Time FUNERAL RITES SUNDAY WilHsfm McKinley Greenwood* 45, died in a Morgan ton hospital Saturday, following a long period of ill health. He was born in Surry county, a son of the tote James I. and Mrs. Nancy Green wood. c ■ He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Pardue Greenwood! three sons, Corbet, Raymond and Howard Greenwood; one brother, J- S. Greenwood, Elkin, and two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Hurt, Hamp tonville, and Miss DeEtte Green wood, Elkin. A brief funeral service was held at the home at Hanes Sunday nnH the funeral proper was held from Friendship Baptist church near Elkin. The rites were in charge of Rev. G. E. Tate, **»*»« Rev. Mr. Ward of Mount Airy, and Rev. T. S. Draughn of Crutchfield. Pallbearers were: Albert Dock ery, Morgan Greenwood. Frank Taylor, Robert Greenwood, Fred Barnett and Burton Pardue. MACK HEMRIC GIVEN 4 MONTHS ON ROADS Mack Hemric, erf Jonesville, was sentenced to four months on the chain gang, and given two two year suspender sentences, sus pended for five years, following trial in Yadkin county on charges of attempted larceny of an auto mobile, forgery, contempt of court and damage to the Yadkin county w H f^ c was caught red handed by Elkin's night policeman, J.
