Miss Crater To Present Music Pupils In Recital Miss Effie Crater will present her piano pupils in a public re cital Friday evening, May 28, at 8 o'clock, in the elementary school auditorium. The public is cordially invited to attend. Wishon-Collins Of interest to friends of the couple is the announcement of the marriage of Miss DeEtte Col lins to Millard Wishon, at Ronda, Saturday, May 22, with Rev. J. L. Powers, of this city, officiat ing. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Collins and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wishon, both of Elkin. Abernethy'g is Host to Seniors Following Graduation Thursday evening at the close of the graduation exercises mem bers of the Senior Class of the local high school were the guests of Abernethy's. The tables where the twenty seniors were seated were decorated with red and white roses. Banana splits, fruit punch, cake and candies were served the guests. In drawing for the prizes, Miss Frances Davis won a box of powder and a powder jar and Lytle Osborne won a pen and pencil set. Mrs. McNeely Is Hostess To Book Club Friday Evening Limiting her guests to mem bers of her book club, Mrs. Fred McNeely was hostess at a delight ful party Friday evening, at her home on West Main street. Sum mer flowers werei used in the liv ing room, where two tables were placed for rummy. The club award for high score went to Mrs. J. Walter Darnell at the conclusion of the play and the consolation prize to Mrs. H. F. Laffoon. A beautifully appointed re freshment course was served when the games were completed. Tommy Roth, Jr., Class Mascot, Entertains Seniors Members of the Senior Class were honored on Saturday even ing when Tommy Roth, Jr., one of the class mascots, was host at a bingo party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roth, on West Main street. The guest list included only the twen ty members of the class. Spring flowers were effectively arranged throughout the lower floor of the home. In the games Miss Iris Collins and Raymond Hanks were recip ients of the high score awards. A tempting refreshment course was served late in the evening. The luncheon table had as a cen terpiece a bowl of pansies and roses, and peonies were used else where in the home. Following the luncheon bridge was played at two tables. The club award for high score went to Mrs. Marion Allen and Mrs. A. L. Griffith, a member cf the club, who will go to Charlotte to make her home, was given a lovely remembrance. Members enjoying Mrs. Hock's hospitality were: Mesdame? Mar ion Allen, C. H. Brewer, R. B. Harrell, Carl Poindexter, A. L. Griffith, Rich Chatham and H. C. Graham. Two-Four Club Meets with Mrs. J. R. Poindexter Mrs. J. R. Poindexter delight fully entertained members of the Two-Four Bridge Club and suf ficient guests to complete two tables at a bridge-luncheon at her home on Bridge Street Thurs day. Luncheon was served at one o'clock. The beautifully appointed luncheon table, where cavers were placed for eight, was centered with a bowl of mixed garden flowers. During the afternoon bridge was enjoyed. The club trophy for high score went to Mrs. E. C. Grier at the close of a series of interesting progressions. Those making up the tables were: Mesdames A. O. Brayan, E. C. Grier, E. S. Spainhour, Paul Gwyn, R. G. Smith, Thomas Roth and Miss Maude Greenwood and Mrs. Poindexter.
