Friends of Mrs. H. P. Laffoon
will regret to know that she sus
tained a broken arm in a fall in
the backyard at her home on
Church street Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Laffoon slipped on a wet
board following a rain. Only one
bone of the right arm was frac
tured in the fall.

CHATHAM PLANT IS
DAMAGED BY STORM
The "old mill," scouring plant
of the Chatham Manufacturing
Co., here was extensively damag
ed last Friday night during a
heavy rain, wind and electrical
storm, when lightning struck the
roof of the building. Other dam
age was caused by wind and rain.
In addition to the damage to
the building, further damage oc
curred when a large amount of
wool stored in the building was
soaked by the downpour. '
The storm was the worst of the
season, being accompanied In
some sections by hall.
