Burris in a revival meeting at Bethel Baptist church in Yadkin county last week and closed on Sunday after noon with a baptizing at 3 o'clock when 18 were baptized. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Talley mov ed to Conover on Tuesday where they will make their home. Mr. Thomas is spending part of this week in Winston-Sa lem with his cousin, Dalton Wishon. Miss Evelyn Arnold of North Wilkesboro, was the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. W. Arnold over the week-end. The town commissioners held their August meeting on Monday August 2 and their most import ant business transaction was that they are going to enforce the speed law and that they will ap preciate the support of every cit izen of the town. Mrs. H. C. Lyons and children attended the revival services at Elkin Valley on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Clay Pelts entered Dr. Triplett's Hospital Monday morning for nerve treatment and for an in jured knee. Mr. and Mrs. John Kimmer of Winston-Salem were the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lovelace on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Pelts had as their guests during the week-end Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Sebastian of North Wilkesboro, Charlie Myers, Hayes, Mrs. Percy Pelts and chil dren, Howard and Don, Helen and Ed Sebastian, of North Wilkesboro, Helen Sebastian spent two weeks here and in Elkin and returned to her home Sunday. After the treasure hunt a water melon feast was enjoyed. Jenkins—Sixemore A wedding which came as a surprise to friends was that of Miss Opal Size more and Wavel Jenkins. The ceremony was per formed Saturday, July 31st at Yadkinville by Charlie Oabarb, Justice of the Peace. The /bride is the daughter of Mr.' and Mrs. Avery Sizemore of Mitchell's Chapel community and Mr. Jenkins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Jenkins of Jones ville. They are at the present resid ing with the bride's parents. Mrs. H. C. Lyons Honors Her Husband on Anniversary Mr. H. C. Lyons was given a surprise birthday dinner at his home on Cherry street on Satur day evening, July 31st in honor of his thirty-eighth anniversary. Those attending were members of the "Kingdom Builders" class of the Baptist church of which he is a member and a number of other friends and relatives. The dinner was served on a table on the lawn. In the center of the table was a huge white and pink birthday cake aglow with 38 pink candles. There were fifty-five people who enjoyed the evening with Mr. Ly ons. During the evening a water melon feast was enjoyed. The Elkin F'irniturs quartet was there and sans several numbers which were enjoyed by all.
