Mr. Dewey Helton, who was in a wreck near Statesville, on Sun day night and entered Davis hos pital for treatment for cuts and bruises, was able to return to his home on Tuesday. She also had as her guests Mrs. Will Gilliam and son, Dallas of Elkin. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Grubbs and children, Bobby Gene and Helen of Salisbury, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Couch- for the week-end. , Mrs. Mildred Shore Adams of Fieldale, Va., is a guest of Mr. Adam's sister, Miss Ruby Adams, here this week. Cool Springs folks had a good representation at the Cottage Prayer Service Sunday afternoon at the home of Rev. J. D. Luff man. The service was much en joyed by those present. Despite the late rains Sunday afternoon and our slick roads a good crowd came to hear Rev. Ed O. Miller, when he filled the ap pointment here Sunday evening. Rev. Miller preached a great ser mon and it was enjoyed by all present. Among our visitors Sunday evening were Messrs. Ralph and David Cockerham of Pleasant Home, and Stella Cheek, of Cen ter. We are glad indeed to have with us again some of our members who have been forced to remain away by sickness. Cool Springs has lost its third member in the past month or a bit more. This week Mrs. Joseph Settle died of paralysis and was iaid to rest beside her childhood love, the husband that had pre ceded her in death. Mr. Paul Newman conducted the Saturday night prayer ser vice and made it a very enjoyable service. Mr. Wall was with us to lead the singing and that, too, makes for a better service. Some may preach the gospel, but some indeed sing it. The service next Saturday eve ning is in charge of Eugene P»f tyjohn. The Sunday night service will be in charge of Pauline Tuck er. Come to Sunday School Sunday morning at nine, after which the choir will go to Macedonia to the singing convention. BURCHAM REUNION TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 5 The Burcham reunion will be held the first Sunday in Septem ber (Sept. 5), at Crooked Creek church, 8 miles from Galax, Va., on the Piper's Gap road. All descendants of the Bur cham family from the great grandfather of the clan, Levi Burcham, born February 1, 1773. are requested to attend and re new their family relationships.
