"Kingdom Builders" Class Has Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Q. S. Wagoner entertained the "Kingdom Build ers" class of the Baptist Sunday school at their home on Monday evening. The meeting was opened by singing the class song, "My Hope Is Built." Mr. F. A. Lineberry gave the devotional and Mr. D. R. Castevens led in prayer. After the business meeting a number of contests were held and prizes were awarded to F. A. Lineberry, Mrs. Ila Sparks and Mrs. W. V. Holcomb. Following the contests they were invited into the dining room where a huge white cake with pink and white candles stood, and as they entered they sang, "Happy Birth day" to Mr. Wagoner in honor of his anniversary. This was a sur prise to Mr. Wagoner. Later a treasure hunt was held. Mr. Wagoner was presented a lovely gift from the class. Mr. F. A. Lineberry was also present ed a gift as retiring teacher of that class for his faithfulness and loyalty to this class for a number of years. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. ■ t Misses Edwina and Juanita Ray Entertain Misses Edwina and Juanita Ray entertained the intermediate girls' Sunday school class and their boy friends with a social at their home on Friday evening. Reece Shugart, Kemp Reece, Joe Bran don, Elton Burgess, Eugene Mar tin and Russell Vestal, and the hostesses. | HAMPTONVILLE The farmers in this community are busy in their tobacco, getting it ready for market. The West Yadkin school is pro gressing nicely, with over 800 enrollment. The principal, Mr. W. N. Ireland, and wife, enter tained at their home Friday night, with a Brunswick stew for the faculty, committeemen, coun ty superintendent and their wives. The revival, at Zion closed last Sunday with thirty-nine added to the church. The pastor, Rev. Gus Myers, was assisted by Rev. Charlie Holland of Taylorsville. Rev. Grady Burgiss and Rev. Roy Crater preached for us some. They are our own home boys and we are always glad to have them and hear them preach. The ladies missionary conven tion was in session at Shiloh last Saturday, with good attendance and a wonderful program. We were highly entertained by the good people in the community and our speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Curt Hemric of Winston-Salem, were visitors in our community over the week end. Miss Cleo Trivette of Winston- Salem, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Ellen Trivette. Miss Mary Jewel Burton of Boonville, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle Allen and family last week, returning to her home Sunday. Mrs. William White, who has been sick for sometime, is im proving. Miss Flossie Joyner, one of our teachers at West Yadkin, was very ill at last reports. Uncle J6e Thomasson is recov ering from a stroke of paralysis. We are hoping he will soon be out again. Dr. and Mrs. V. F. Couch of Winston-Salem, were visitors at Mrs. Couch's father, Mr. G. T. White, Sunday. Mrs. Glenn Brown and children, Glenn. Jr., and Shirley, visited her sister, Mrs. William White, over the week-end, returriing to her home at Blowing Rock Sun day afternoon. FUTURE FARMERS ELECT OFFICIALS The Boonville chapter of Fu ture Farmers met in a special session Monday and elected the following officers for the coming year. FORSYTH FAIR TO OPEN NEXT WEEK Horse Racing Feature Each Afternoon's Program; Many Attractions SPECIAL DAYS PLANNED | Next week, October 4 to 8, is Pair Week in Winston-Salem. Opening day will be Tuesday with the school children of the city of Winston-Salem as guests. On Wednesday the children of Forsyth and adjoining counties will attend the Fair with free tickets, furnished through the county superintendents. Thursday will be manufac turers' day and >riday Farmers* day with special events planned for each. Horse racing will feature each afternoon's program, with mar velous circus acts at the grand stand during the races. Saturday afternoon will see a revival of the popular automobile racing with the South's most famous drivers competing for valuable cash prizes. The World of Mirth midway attractions will be at the fair grounds all the week. Agricul tural and livestock exhibits will be far superior to any ever shown before. There will be something doing every minute of the day and night, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. all the week starting Tuesday. Each evening of Fair Week there will be a grand revue at the grandstand, with all the circus acts, pretty girls, excellent music and grand lighting effects. This program will be followed by fire works. It looks like a great week of entertainment in Winston-Sa lem next week and with the to bacco market opened, the stores filled with fall and winter goods and the people of the city anxious to entertain their thousands of friends from surrounding terri tory it will be a fine time to spend a day or a week in the Twin-City. COOL SPRINGS Our Sunday school is still going good with the record for attend ance still held by the young peo ple. Prayer service was held at the home of Mr. Manley Carter Sun day afternoon. A large crowd at tended the service and a generous donation was given to show the esteem in which his community holds him, and to help him in his illness. The Sunday night service, made enjoyable by a great sermon by Rev. Ely Jordan, was well attend ed. His subject was "And the Records Are Kept." Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hol brook of Traphill, are here now. Mr. Holbrook is building a home and service station on the Trap hill road. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Harris and children and Miss Lillie Adams visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ad ams, near Independence, Va., Saturday. Mr. A. C. Wall has generously donated the contribution given him for his service in a in a ten night singing here to building flues for the Sunday school rooms. He also recently made a bulletin board, and framed a large copy of the church covenant for the church. He has gone to his work at the Winston-Salem Tobacco Market now. Rev. David Day will preach here the second Sunday night at 7:30 o'clock, and we hope he will sing some, too. You are invited to hear him. Young People's Service next Sunday evening. BETHEL Several people from this com munity attended and enjoyed the fair at Elkin last week. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gilliam and children visited Mrs. W. A. Pardue and family and Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Burchette last Satur day night and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Triplette and Clay Mastin spent a while Sunday with relatives at Jones ville. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Durham and family had as their guests last Sunday relatives from Lomax. A great amount of sand is be ing hauled from here to be placed on the dirt roads in and around this community. Mrs. J. F. Mathis and daugh ters, Mary Lou and Edna, were the guests of her mother, Mrs. W. N. Weatherman, of Jonesville, last Saturday evening for supper in her new home there. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Stroud and family spent last Sunday after noon in Winston-Salem visiting Mrs. Stroud's sisters, Mesdames J. B. Armstrong and E. L. Fer lazzo. Mrs. J. C. Hemric, of this place, has been confined to her home for several days with illness, we regret to learn. Mr. and Mrs. Jones Vanhoy, of North Elkln, came over to visit her mother and family last Sun day afternoon, Mrs. W. A. Par due. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Q.
