The people of this community were very much surprised to hear of the marriage of Miss Carrie Coe and Mr. Charles Holyfield, which was announced last week. They were married August 21st, in Hillsville, Va.. by Rev. J. C. Carper, Sr. The couple plan to make their home in Rockford. They stated that the weather was extremely cold, with much snow in West Virginia, which makes us feel that hard winter is nearing here. Miss Lillie Norman, who has been ill for some time, is well again and back at her work at Elkin. "Dick" Simmons, of Chapel Hill, spent several days here last week with his parents and rela tives, but has returned to school again to resume his studies.
