of the Past Year
MANY STARS IN CAST
Said to be better In every way
l .han even the Pulitzer Prize play
by George S. Kaufman and Moss
Hart, the Columbia screen ver
sion of "You Can't Take It With
You," enacted by a distinguished
cast which includes Jean Arthur,
Lionel Barrymore, James Stewart,
Edward Arnold, Mischa Auer,
Ann Miller and Spring Byington
will show at the Lyric theatre
here today and Friday. Others in
the cast include Donald Meek,

"You Can't Take It With You"
expresses the philosophy of
Grandpa Vanderhof (Lionel Bar
rymore) and his lovable family
group. Grandpa has long believ
ed that too much money is a
liability and that the major mo
tif of life should be good clean
fun. His entire family, as a con
sequence, has become imbued
with this unconventional theory
of living. Everybody who lives in
the Vanderhof home does just
• what he or she wants to do, and
nothing else.
The story is said to be packed
with delightful comedy and de
lightfully astonishing incident.
The dcreen story was adapted by
Robert Riskin, Capra's "ace" col
laborator, from the Kaufman-
Hart Pulitzer Prize play which
ran on Broadway for two years.
