PARDUE PAS® AWAY Wilkes Woman Dies Sunday Night Following Illness of Pneumonia SERVICES HELD MONDAY Mrs. Martha Hemric Pardue, 74, widow of Dock Pardue, died Sunday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Grant Wagoner, near Ronda, from an illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Pardue was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett Hemric of Wilkes county. EUIIN, N. C. was a devout member of the Baptist church. Her husband preceded her in deatn several years ago. She is survived by two daugh ters, Mrs. Grant Wagoner of Ronda, and Mrs. Luther Freeman of Jonesville, and three sons, Cleveland Pardue of Sanford; Qrover Pardue of Jonesville, and Everette Pardue of Ronda. One sister and one brother, Mrs. John Brooks of High Point and Lytle Hemric of Virginia, also survive. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock from Bethel Baptist church. The rites were in charge of Rev. Rich ard Pardue and Rev. Martin Luffman. Interment was in the church cemetery. One small tomato contains 25 calories. THE ELKJN TRIBUNE, ELKIN, NORTH CAROLINA MULBERRY Rev. E. G. Jordan filled his regular appointment at Bessie's Chapel Baptist church last Sat urday evening at 7:30 pjn., and again Sunday at 11 ajn. Both sermons were greatly enjoyed by the congregation. Mr. and Mrs. Romey Johnson and family, of Charity Church in Yadkin, attended services at Bessie's Chapel Sunday and were the afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Southard. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Williams, of Mountain Park, attended church esrvlces at Bessie's Chapel Sunday. Rev. Armstrong, of Shady Grove, will hold services at Bes sie's Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The public is cor dially invited to attend. Mr. Clyde White, of Union Cross, was the week-end guest of Mr. Clarence Southard. Mr. Hort Thompson and son, Johnny, have been very ill for the past two weeks, but are greatly improved, their many friends are glad to know. Miss Alice and Ralph Thomp son, of Mountain Park, were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hort Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Earlie Cofcbs and family, of Elkin, were the Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wall and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wells, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frank Fulk and son, Glenn, all of Mount Airy, were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. 11. Misses Ethel Mastin and Gladys Sparks, of Roaring River, spent the week-end with Miss Christine Mast in. Rev. and Mrs. D. J. White were in Statesvllle Sunday visiting their son, Fred White and family. Mr. and Mrs. Burnis Pardue spent Sunday with Mrs. Pardue's parents, in Boone. Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Bentley and daughter, Grace Dean, and Miss Vivian Blackburn visited friends in Roaring River Sunday. ; Mesdames Ella McClain and May Tendell, and Misses Grace McClain and June Royall of Wil kesboro, were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bentley. Rev. McKaughan of Winston- Salem, filled his regular appoint ment at the Baptist church here Sunday and spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Black bum and Sunday night with Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Martin. Miss Lorraine Tharpe spent the week-end in Winston-Salem. Misses Margaret Webb and Sara Perkins were business visit ors in Elkin Saturday.
