bacco have already been cured
on the farm of Walter Chilton
near Ararat. Mr. Chilton plans
to have one hundred barns cured
this year. This is unusually early
for tobacco curing. Mr. Badgett
of the White Plains section has
also cured one barn.
July superior court convenes
this morning, Judge Zeb Vance
Nettles, of Asheville, presiding.
There are perhaps more than 250
casAs docketed for trial at this
term. Some of them date back
as far as 20 years. Mr. Prank
Lewellyn, clerk of court, classified
the cases as "leftovers," or per
haps "odds and ends." Some of
them, the oldest, will probably be
disposed of without trial, having
run their full course of the law.

Mr. William Vanhoy, Jr., spent
Sunday at White Plains, attend
ing a meeting of the Board of the

Mr. Thad Ireland, who has
been employed at Lexington for
some time, spent the past week
here with his mother, Mrs. Ethel
Cook.
Mrs. John Reavis has returned
home, after an operation at Davis
hospital in Statesville. Her con
dition is very much improved, we
are pleased to note.
Miss Mabel Smith spent the
Fourth at Carolina Beach, but
was called home, due to the ill
ness of her mother, Mrs. E. E.
Smith. Mrs. Smith's condition is
very much improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Reavis of
near Yadkinville, spent the week
end with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bux
ton.

Ireland of Danville, Va., spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Lee
Ireland.

part of last week in Statesville,
as the guest of her aunt, Mrs.
Lina Reavis.

Springs, is spending some time
with her aunt, Mrs. Martha Key.

companied by his mother, Mrs.
Etta Settle, who will spend some

Friends of Mrs. Julia Pardue
will regret to know that she is ill
at her home here. Her condition
shows no improvement.
