BOONVJ±LE Clarence Caudle, Carl Martin, Alonzo Glenn Dezem and R. J. Hunter left recently for Marshall town, lowa, where they will spend several days visiting relatives and friends. Taft Brannock and family left Wednesday for State Road, where they will make their home. Mrs. Joe Norman of Mountain Park, Surry County, visited Mrs. M. F. Gough recently. Miss Amanda Hallman, teacher in the local school, visited her sister, Mrs. Wayne Matthews, in Winston-Salem, the past week end. Mrs. Elizabeth Qaither vis ited relatives in Cool Springs. She is also a local teacher. Prof. J. R. Walker, local agri culture teacher, attended the dis trict agricultural teachers' meet ing, held at Salisbury last week. Mrs. Ernest Caudle is ill at her home at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simmons of Pilot Mountain, spent the week end with Mrs. Simmons' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Norman. John Wade Shore and BUI Am burn spent the past week-end with Bernard Mock, who is a student at State College at Ral eigh. Mr. and Mrs. J. Miss Mary Speer, who is a teacher in the Jamestown school, spent the week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Speer. P. W. Day, one of the oldest merchants in Boonville, remains ill at his home. Mr. Day has been in declining health for about three years. He was injured ser iously in an automobile wreck and he has never fully recovered from the effects of the injury. Mr. Fleming Shore of Raleigh, spent the past week-end with his father, Mi 1 . Arnie Shore. Miss Mattie Motsinger of Win ston-Salem, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Motsinger. Misses Sadie Fleming and Myr tle Bolick visited Miss Bolick's mother at Franklin, in the west ern part of the state, last Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steelman and son, of Winston-Salem, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Steelman. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Finney of Winston-Salem, visited Mr. Fin ney's parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coram and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Coram and sons, Fred and Edward, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen Jones in Mount Airy Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Jones, Jr., of Landis, visited Mr. Jones' par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Jones, Sr., over the week-end. T. A. Leeper, 9th district engi neer of the State highway de partment, addressed the officers and teachers of Boonville Bap tist Sunday school in their month ly meeting Monday night. Mr. Leeper, who resides at Elkin, sub stituted for Mrs. Eph Whisen .hunt, who had been engaged for the occasion, but found that she could not be present. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Reece and family were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Hobson and family of Richmond Hill. Yadkin 4-H Girls to Attend Style Revue Five Yadkin county girls will attend the State Style Revue which is to be held at State Col lege, Friday. October 6, Miss Irene Brown announced here jesterday. The girls who will attend are Misses Dorothy Fleming, Dorothy Coram and Lucy Dobbins, from Boonville, Miss Kay Minish, of Jonesville, and Miss La verne Prim, of Fall Creek school. The State Style Revue will be made up of 4-H club girls from every part of the state. The Yadkinville girls. Miss Brown stated, will not compete for prizes in the state event, but all of them will model their dresses. Mrs. J. Wade Shore Entertains Boonville Faculty Mrs. J. Wade Shore entertain ed members of the Boonville school faculty and their husbands and wives at her home here. Several tables of Chinese checkers were played. Mr. and Mrs. Watt Deal were high score winners. Mrs. Shore presented both winners with gifts. After the games a delicious re freshment course was served. Boonville Missionary Group Meets with Mrs. Fletcher The Woman's Missionary soci ety of Boonville Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. R. M. Fletcher Tuesday night for its regular monthly meeting. The program topic for the month was "The Great Commis sion and the W. M. U." The program opened with a hymn. Bible study was given by Mrs. Speas. She took for her topic, "Soul Winning." Piayer was offered by Miss Annie Hogue. Those on the . program were Mrs. Jettie Motsinger, Mrs. R. M. Fletcher and Mrs. Olive Smith. Miss Frances Deal Honored on Her 4th Birthday Mrs. Watt Deal honored her little daughter, Frances, on her fourth birthday by giving a lawn party for her at their home here. Several games and contests were played. Miss Ruby Winkler assisted Mrs. Deal in entertaining the children. Refreshments consisting of lemonade and cake were served.
