arrived Tuesday for a visit with
her mother, Mrs. J. L. Hall, at

Mrs. R. H. Sheppard, of Rock
Hill, S. C„ arrived Thursday for
a visit with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs..J. H. Guyer. She will be ac
companied home by her little
daughter, Sarah Jane, who has
been spending several weeks here,
and her mother, who will visit
her for sometime.
Mrs. Mae Bodenheimer Green
wood, of Winston-Salem, spent
the latter part of the week here
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. N. Bodenheimer. She was ac
companied to Winston-Salem by
her daughter, Miss Constance
Greenwood, who was her guest
for the week-end.
Mis. R. E. Devereux, of Dan
ville, Va., was the guest the latter
part of the week of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles G. Ashby, the latter her
sister, at their home on Bridge
street. Mr. Devereux joined her
for a week-end visit. On Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. Ashby and Mr. and
Mrs. Devereux visited relatives in
Greensboro.
The entire faculty of the city
schools and the North Elkin
school attended the county-wide
teachers' meeting held in Mount
Airy Tuesday afternoon, together
with the teachers of the Mount
Airy schools. Mrs. Ruth Dick
Everette, field worker for the
North Carolina Educational As
sociation, was speaker for the
meeting.
Those from the First Baptist
church in this city attending the
annual Charlotte divisional meet
ing of the Woman's Missionary
Union of the Baptist church, held
in Gastonia Tuesday were: Mes

new division, the North Wilkes
boro Division, was created, and
Mr. E. C. James, of this city, was

ent. The newly created division
is composed of twelve associa
tions in Western North Carolina.
Correction
Through error it was reported
in the news columns of The Tri
bune last week that Frank Smoot
had reenlisted in the U. 8. Navy
and had left for Pensacola, Fla.,
to begin his duties. .It was George
DeWitt Smoot, brother of Frank
Smoot. who reenlistjed in the
navy. The error is regretted.

and allied fields, a 15-minute sus
taining program over the NBC
Red Network, and 24 interviews
with pharmacists, each lasting
approximately 15 minutes, are
being broadcast by stations in all
parts of the country in observ
ance of National Pharmacy Week,
which began last Sunday and will
continue through next Saturday.
National Pharmacy Week,
which is being observed here by
Elkin's three modern drug stores,
has been primarily designed to
acquaint the public with the es
sential work which pharmacists
do. During the week, everyone is
urged to visit their drflg store and
get better acquainted with their
druggist. Local drug stores will
be glad to have visitors inspect
their prescription departments
and in other ways learn of the
many services provided.

members of the Woman's Club
will sponsor the presentation of
the picture "Stronger Than De
sire," starring Virginia Bruce and
Walter Pidgeon, at the Lyric
theatre. Ticket booths will be
established at Abernethy's and
Turner's drug stores and Spain -
hour's department store for ad
vance sales of tickets, both for
matinee and evening showings of
the picture.
All members of the Woman's
club and the public are urged to
attend the show, the proceeds of
which will be used for the work
of the Woman's Club.
