Rose Marlowe Circle Meets Tuesday Evening The Rose Marlowe Circle of the Baptist church met for its month | ly meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Marvin Mayberry with twelve members present and one of the old members, Mrs. G. Wagoner, who is now making her home at Brooks Cross Roads, as a special guest. Miss Mildred Har ris was in charge of the program, "What Southern Baptist are Do ing in Africa and Europe to Carry Out the Great Commission." Miss Thelma Shore was in charge of the devotional. Others taking part on the program were: Mes dames Parks' Groce, M. A. Hol comb, D. R. Casstevens and Miss Hazel Phillips. During the busi ness period it was voted to send song books to the Negrine Mission aries in Cuba. After the program a social half hour was enjoyed by all. BETHEL The many friends of Clay Mas tin, who has been in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Triplett since he was a very small boy, will be glad to know that he was able to return to his home here last Sun day from the Hugh Chatham Memorial hospital at Elkin where he was treated for more than a week for an injured arm and shoulder, hurt at school. Clay is a seventh grade student in Ronda school and will soon be able to resume his work. G. F. Pardue attended court at Wilkesboro last week, serving as juror. Last Tuesday evening some of the homes here were visited by several boys and girls who were enjoying some of the sports and fun of the Hallowe'en season. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Durham and children were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Jones last Sunday at their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Morrison, accompanied by some parties, en joyed a trip to the scenic high way on the Blue Ridge last Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Gilliam and children and Mrs. C. W. Gilliam, Sr., spent last Sunday afternoon at Wilkesboro visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Stroud. Miss Ethel Gilliam and Mrs. O. D. Travis, of Elkin, were among the visitors who called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Trip lette last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Seamon Dobbins, of Elkin, spent last Tuesday and Wednes day here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Stroud. She was present at the big "corn shuck ing" where several neighbors met and enjoyed a good day. There are only a few more shuckings in this community for this fall. Mr. and Mrs. C. W.
