The Missionary Society of Dob
son Baptist church met with Mrs.
W. L. Reece Thursday evening.
Opening song, “The King’s
Business.” Devotionals were con
ducted by Mrs. Emma Mock. Miss
Elizabeth Norman introduced the
subject, “Whatever Things Are
Just—Think on These Things,”
and spoke on “Things That Are
Just.”
Mrs. Reece discussed. “Injus
tice”; Miss Beatrice Holbrook
spoke on, “Injustice in America,”
and Mrs. W. E. Reid had for her
subject, “The Paths of Justice.”
“America the Beautiful” was sung
which concluded the program.
After the business session refresh
ments were served. The next
meeting will be held with Mrs. W.
E. Reid, with Miss Holbrook joint
hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Norman
had as dinner guests Wednesday
evening, Mr. Don Dickinson, of
Galax; Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher

Hancock, an April bride-elect,
Friday evening at the club house.
Jonquils and narcissi formed an
attractive background for 10
tables of hearts, from which
Mrs. Grady Cooper derived high
score prize, which she presented
to the honoree, who was showered
with many miscellaneous gifts.
Delightful refreshments were
served by the hostesses, assisted
by Mrs. Kermit Lawrence and
Mrs. Jim Dan Hemmings.
Mrs. E. W. Padidson, Mrs. A. D.
Folger and son. Jack, were vis
itors in town Saturday.
Miss Helen Saunders and Mr.
Worth Folger were Sunday guests
of Mrs. B. F. Folger.
Mr. L. M. Cook, of Mount Airy,
held a service at the Baptist
church Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Comer, of
Fort Bragg, spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Comer.
Mrs. Joe Folger and Mrs. Frank
Riggs honored Misses Hancock
and Comer, brides-elect of the
spring, at a luncheon at the home
of Mrs. Folger Saturday after
noon. The tables were centered
with spring flowers, and the
bride’s table had added attrac
tions of gold slippers and rice.
Following the luncheon the tables
were cleared and contract was
played. High score prize went to
Mrs. Carl Folger, and runner-up
to Mrs. J. W. Comer. Miss Comer
was given silver in her pattern by
the hostesses, and to Miss Han
cock crystal in her pattern. Mrs.
Wilson Comer, an out-of-town
guest of Fayetteville, was pre
sented a gift.
Mrs. Brasington, of Bennetts
ville, S. C., spent most of last
week with her daughter, Mrs. J.
T. Threatte.

regular appointment at Little El

ors. A warm welcome is extended

the church.
We are glad to note that Mar
vin Burcham is able to be out
again, after being confined to his
home for two weeks by illness.
Marvin Walls of Ronda, who
has been working in Portsmouth,
Va., for several months, visited
his father, M. H. Walls, Sunday.
Other visitors in the home of Mr.
Walls were Thomas Walls and
family and Mr. and Mrs. Hobson
Blackburn.
