Jin JJlie Social Ueaim News of Parties, Clubs, Weddings TELEPHONE No. 96 Miss Parnell Is Shown Courtesies * Several final pre-nuptial cour tesies were extended to Miss Jean Parnell during the past week. Miss Parnell and John Wells were mar ried at 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church. * * * Complimenting Miss Parnell. Mrs. J. D. Brendle and Mrs. L. C. Couch entertained at a “come and sit” tea Thursday afternoon from 3:30 until 4:30 .o’clock at the Brendle home on North Bridge Street. The dining room table was cen tered with an attractive bridal scene. Fink roses and fever few were used throughout the receiv ing rooms of the home furnishing a pretty party setting. The hostesses presented Miss Parnell with a corsage of roses and a gift of china in her chosen pattern. Mrs. Brendle presented Miss Geraldine Couch, bride-elect of the Summer, a corsage and a trosseau gift. The bridal motif was carried out in the ices and individual cakes served by the hostess. The guest list included about 20 friends of the honoree. Mrs. William T. Roth and Miss Louisa Roth entertained at a “come and sit” tea on Wednesday afternoon of last week from 3:30 to 4:30 o’clock in honor of Miss Parnell. Punch, individual cakes and nuts were served from a tea table attractively arranged with roses and snapdragons. Arrangements of roses and sweet peas were used throughout the receiving rooms of the home. Miss Parnell was presented a corsage and a gift of china in her chosen wedding pattern. The guest list included 30 friends of the honoree. Y.W.A. Group Meets Monday The Young Women's Associa tion of the First Baptist Church met Monday evening* at 7 o'clock at the home of Gwyn Walker. Nine members answered roll call. The meeting opened with a poem and a prayer. Betty Line berry. president, presided over the business session. Molly Dobbins presented a pro gram on “Christian Schools,” as sisted by Betty Lineberry, Joan Dorsett and Jean Adams. The program was closed with a prayer by Mrs. Reece Gilliam, leader. Refreshments were served by the hostess at the conclusion of the program. The Netherlands forces in the homeland last year numbered 50,000 whilq their forces in In donesia numbered 84,000. Frances G. Miss Lucille Elizabeth Mackie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Arthur Mackie of Yadkinville be came the bride of John Fuller Moseley, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fuller Moseley of this city at 5:30 o’clock, Saturday in Har mony Grove Friends Church in Yadkinville. Rev. Paul Brunner of Rural Hall, brother-in-law of the bride groom, performed the double ring ceremony. A program of wedding music w'as presented byTvlrs. Worth Hin shaw of Hamptonville and Pleas Norman of Washington, D. C. Bridal green and white were effectively used in the church decorations, tall floor baskets of white gladioli and fern intersper sed with feverfew were placed at the altar. Miss Edith Mackie, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Doris Wright of Shelby, Stella Redding of Sophia, Rilla Whitaker and Ruth Haire of Yadkinville. The maid of honor wore a gown of orchid taffeta with an over skirt of printed organza fashion ed wfith boat neckline and a large ruffle forming a bertha. She car ried a nosegay of pink carnatins showered with feverfew tied with matching ribbon. The bridesmaids wore identical dresses of blue and pink and car ried a nosegay of pink carnations tied with matching ribbon. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Roger Mackie, sister-in-law of the bride, of Yadkinville; Mrs. W. B. Partin, sister of the bridegroom, of this city, Miss Ruth Mackie of Yadkinville and Miss Carolyn Canrod of Greensboro. W. B. Partin, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, of Elkin was best man. Ushers were Roger Mackie. brother of the bride; Bill Eaker of Charlotte; Bill Boles and C. J. Holcomb, Jr., both of Jonesville. | The bride, given in maniage by her father, wore a gown of ivory duchess satin with sweetheart neckline outlined in seed pearls and a full skirt which extended into a court train. Her full-length veil of illusion was held in place by a tiara of seed pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid and showered with gypsophilia. Immediately following the cere mony the bride’s parents enter tained at a reception at their Miss Welborn, Mr. Neubert, Betrothed The wedding of Miss Joy Pa tricia” Welborn, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe David Welborn of Yadkinville, and Ernest Calvin Neubert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Er nest O. Neubert of Moorestown, N. J., was solemnized at 4 o’clock on Friday afternoon, June 10, in the wooded garden of the home of the bride in Harmony Heights. Rev. E. W. McMurray officiated, using the double ring Episcopal service. Music w%s presented by Mrs. W. E. Dobbins, pianist, ana Arthur D. Garrison, II, of Greens boro, soloist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of bridal satin designed with a low, round neckline, edged in lace, and the full flared skirt extended into a flowing tiain. Her full length veil of bridal illusion was worn with matching lace. She carried a pray er book, a gift of her maternal grandmother, popped with a white orchid and showered with lilies of-the-valley. The bride’s only attendant, Mrs. T. C. Lohr of High Point, wrore a gown of pastel yellow tulle and lace. Her old fashioned bouquet was of pastel rosebuds and baby’s breath. Howard C. Neubert of Moores town, N. J., brother of the bride groom, was best man. Ushers were J. D. II, and Max Welborn, broth ers of the bride; Johnson and Locksley Hall of Yadkinville, Wil liam K. Powell of Goldsboro. Richmond Woodhull of Medford, N. J., and Joseph R. Johnson, Jr., of Moorestown, N. J. A wedding reception immediate ly followed the ceremony. Following the reception the bri dal couple left for a two week wedding trip. They will be at home in Harmony Heights, Yadkinville, after July 5. Mrs. Taylor Fetes Daughter Mrs. V. W. Taylor, Jr., honored her daughter, Susan Grace, on her sixth birthday anniversary with a party yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) at their home in Westover Heights. The guest list included several friends of the honoree. home honoring the wedding par ty, relatives and out-of-town guests. The bride is a graduate of Yad kinville High School and attended High Point College. She now holds a position with the Yadkin Fi nance Corporation of Jonesville. The bridegroom is a graduate of Elkin High School and was grad uated from Wake Forest College, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha. Since his gradua tion. he has been associated with Moseley and Reece. The couple will be at home at 110 Harris Avenue in this city.
