Mr. J. li. Tu(ker, who lives near
Creenville, has just returned from the
State Fair at Kalcigh, anil Mr. Tucker
was the only man from I’itt county
that liad an exhibit at the fair this
week. -\Ir. Tucker’s exhibits were of
white leghm ii chickens and corn, Hiid
it is gratifying to the people of tbe
comity to knuw that he captured three
lirst priaes and two second prizes. The
three fir.st prizes were awarded for the
chickens while the two second were
given on the corn.
There were exhibits there tiiis
week from many counties in the State
of leghorn cliickens, hut Mr. Tucker
was successful inasmuch as he had
the good fortune told above. The com-
lietition between the counties was par
ticular strong, says Mr, Tucker, but
•'one just couldn’t get ahead of Pitt.”
11 is intimated by many of the farm
ers that have returned from the Fair
that they arc unusually sorry that
they failed to take advantage of the
chance to take exhibits to the fair, and
it is thouglit that next year will tind
Pitt county represented with many
fine exhibits.
Those people who have returned say
that the exhibits there this year were
better than has ever been before and
that the attractions all over the fair
grounds this year were tbe best ever.
A very largi. j,iiniber of people troiu

incoming train brings more back
