Most of the delegates in their seats but
the hall is still in total darkness, with ex
ception of a few randies on press tables.

gold Standard Democrats will be held in
the Auditorium, tomorrow night, to con
sider the ad visibility of issuing a call for
National Convention.'
Ten States will be represented at the
meeting, and" there is practically no doubt
local men Bay that the conference will
decide to call a Convention, and that the
call will bo issued immediately after the

The leaders of tbe movement say that
they have assurances that every State in
the Union will be represented in tbe Con

p'atform against the lease of the North
Carolina Railway to the Southern Rail
way for 09 years, and that the next Gov
ernor and new Supreme Court and, Legis
lature will decide the legality of this lease.

for Bryan and Sewall was a vote for the
monetary independence of America.
After electing committees for permanent
organization a motion was made to ad
journ until 4:30 p. m.
Much opposition to an adjournment
was manifested, the dolegates speaking
gainst It, but it was carried.
The afternoon session of the convention
was called to order by temporary chair
man Newlnnds at 4:45 p. m.
A motion to admit Populists to hall
without tickets was carried.
Chairman St. John addressed the con
vention.
The chairman was inteirupted by loud
and continued cheering.

The argument over the conference com
mittee regarding several substitutes and
amendments was offered, amid great con'
fusion.

Charles Dickens, son ot the deceased

Charles IL Warren, of St. Paul, after a
continuous service of fifteen years with
tbe great Northern Railroad, tbe last two
as its General Manager, has laid down
the harness, and for a time, at least will,
retire from active service with the compa

Gov. Watson, of Deleware, refused to
pardon the single tax advocates who were
arrested at Dover, Del., on Saturday night
last, charged with inciting to riot by
