To build up cities it is necessary thatco-opeiation among its people shall exist, not merely a co-operation which Jias for its -beginning (nd end, "I wish you success in jour efforts," but a co-operation which puts up money, enters irrto the work and stands by the enter prise. It may be true that a few citizen are the promoters of new enterprises in every city, but the success of their efforts is ever problematical until the rest of the community eater into and second the efforts of the original promoters. The proposition to start an in dustry in New Berne by any of its citizens, ought to receive the sup port of every one who can contri bute towards its success, and there are several ways in which this may bo done. The future prosperity of New Berne is going to depend lurgeh -upon what industries can be built . up and set to providing work for our people, for as the working class are given remunerative labor, s will be the development of every thing else, and with such labor for our people the cry of dull times will never be heard, for people will be too intent upon their work to stop to talk or complain. The Tobacco Warehouse project was started upon this co-opcrativi plan, it is backed by the merchant of the city and while the actual work of the enterprise is entrusted to a few, yet the cumpnny lias i strong support which means it suc cess, .But while this Warehouse inter- prise. hi a niiniurous backing, it I ought to bo the object of every cit izen of New Rerno tirlf d it in even possible war, for it this m cfone iu success will not o-ly bo iimureil, but it will be a success ami a jirnlitiib'.i one, ti b tli the Warehouse ncopli and every bus'n s man in t'.is place. " 1 Cooperative oiiteniwe is what , Jiew Berne wants. Our city is ouly a large family aftor all, and what interests and promotes the welfare and prosperity of one citizen, is felt by every other one. There is not an .interest in thit cHjwbiH cannot be affected in , some degree, for good or evil, by . any citizen, therefore how necessary it is that whore so much depend upon mutual support, that support should be always for good. Hake the enterprising spirit oi ojr people co-operative, and there on be no question of the future , prosperity of this city and its pec pie.
