BASED ON SUPREME COURT DECISION IN ASYLUM CASES. Hade at Meeting of Board of Agrb culture. Han nnd Woman Crim inal brought to the Penitentiary for Foisoning. Special to Journal. Raleigh, N. C... June 15 At the meet ing of the Board of Agriculture, attor neys R. O Burton and Shepard made demand on behalf of J. H. Tilmer, J, R, McLeliand and E. R. Aiken that they he received as members of the Board and take their Beats and serve until the ex piration of their terms. . This is based on the Supreme Oourt decision in the insane asylum cases which is claimed to precisely cover this case. A white man and woman from Oald wcll county, were brought to the peni tentiary today, to serve a term of ten years for poisoning the woman's former husband so that they could marry. Party Goes to Carteret Lote at Raleigh Tribune Effects Sold at Low Prices. Office Changes. Rev enne Collections. Attempt Made to Oust Curator Brlmley. Journal Bikrait. ) Raleigh, N. C, June, 15. i" The various changes of the faculty and employees at the Blind (white) asylum. aud the Deaf, Dumb and Blind (colored) asylum, here, are very great. The princi pal of the Blind Asylum, Mr. Ray, was not changed but the assistant principal. Mr. Young, was removed and the ollice abolished. The physician was not changed. There were still more chances at tho colored asylum. C. T. Baily is chairmen of board succeeding H. F Muntaguc. The properly of the Tribuno was sold vcsteiday in lols and then as a whole. In lots it brought only 870 net, it was sold as a whole, and bought by Mr. A A. Thompson for one of the banks for ftl.305. The only other bidders were Josepliui Daniels of the News and Ob server and C. B, Poland one of the Trib une employees. This bid will, by no means satisfy the judgments against the paper. There is still about $1,440 left against the paper. Two North C'arollninns have received fellowshipi from John Hopkins Univer sity. W. A. Jones, HillsUoro; A. B. CliemUtry, G. C. Lee, Chapel Hill, A. This had to be done it is said to prevent Senator Pritch srd from antagonizing the appointment of judge Purnell. The revenue collections in this district for May wero 8T.7i8.49 which exceed May collections for 1890 by 13,000. There was a semi-annual session, of the onw board of agriculture this after noon at 4 o'clock. One ot the plan, dia cuised was to oust Mr. Herbert. Urimlcy the curator of the museum and State taxidermist, and put in Uyams a brother-in-law of Pritchard. Mr. Brlmley is a very accomplished man, and Hyams is no nt successor for him. One of the board it seems is in favor of abolishing every ofllc. that a competent Republican or Populists cannot be found to fill. J COTTON. JNkw York, June 15. Cotton was more active today than for some time, with the feeling decidedly bullish. Liv erpool reported sales of fourteen thous and, with spot prices steady and futures 1 to 2 points higher. Our market opened at an advance of four points for both the summer and fall months, and gained 3 to 0 points for the day, closing at the high est. Although the volume of business was small, yet it was confined almost exclusively, to the summer months which lead the advance. There are some reports of inserts in the Southeastern licit; and in the low lands some red stocks are also reported. These, willi a better foreign demand may cause a tern pnrary bulge, when cotton will be a good sale. STOCKS. New York, June 15. London cables came in this morning fractionally higher than our closing yesterday. Our market opened at an advance of about i cent, and ruled strong during the first hour, wilh the industrial groups in the lead. Sugar advanced to ISfi but under the pressure of realizing sales quickly dc clined 1 2. a share, but rallied oue point near the close. Jerscv Central was the favorate again to-day. The opening was unchanged, nnd the close showed a loss of H for the day. Tlie grangers, under the leadership of Burlington were firm, on increased earnings for the second week in June. The general market was unsettled at the close, and we would not be surprised to see lower prices to morrow. CHICAGO MARKETS. Chicaoo, June 15. The price of wheat was practically unchanged in both the home and foreign markets, at the open ing this morning, but heavy realizing in the July option wss nolicable during the first hour, and a loss of one cent a bushel followed the days business. There was but very little doing iu the late months, and the decline was not so great. The decrease In the visible was considerable less than was generally expected, which had a depressing influence upon prices. Corn was inclined to he firm near the close on bad reports from Kansas. Pro visions were less active with prices 7 to 10 cents lower, although the understone remains strong, and higher prices may follow. STOCKS. Open. High.
