The five weeks' struggle for an ad
vance in wages by the Cornice and Sky
light Makers' Union was settled in New
York City and the 300 workmen who
were still engaged in the Btrike returned
to work. The contractors conceded the
demands of the union for 50 cents a day
increase in wages.
Robert Carter, colored, killed James
Buret) in a saloon in Benhem, Texas, and
then went to jail to surrender. His body
was afterwards found riddled with bul
lets and buckshot, about 100 yards back
of the jail. A mob of unknown persons
pursued and killed him.
The horseshoe rolling mills of the Old
Dominion Iron and Nail Works started
work at Richmond, Va. This portion of
the Old Dominion plant has been idle
since lost May. The horseshoe factory
will start up about Wednesday.
Willis A. Trask, the fugitive teller if
the First National Bank of Wullingford.

An official telegram received at Lon
don from Yokohama says that Japan ac
cepted the invitation to send a represen

standing that the whole scaling question
Is to be discussed and not simply the
questions which are covered by the Paris
award, Japan having no interest in the
Pribyloff Islands.
The secretary of the Federated Trades,
comprising thirty important industries,
announce that the executive committee
has definitely decided to call out all its
member, in sympathy with the struggle

on Friday next, when it is estimated
