THE EXCBieiCE OF SYSUP OF FIGS is due not only to tho originality and simplicity of tba combination, but also to the care and skill with which it is manufactured by scientific processes known to the Califxirsia Fie Svbuf Co. only, and we wish to impress upon all the importance of purchasing the true and original remedy. As the genuine Syrup of Figs is manufactured by the Caufohxia Fm Srsvr Co. only, a taiowledge of that fact will assist one in avoiding; the worthless imitations manufoctnred by other par ties. The high standing of the Cali fornia Fio Srnup Co. with the medi cal profession, lad the satisfactior. which the genuine Syrup of Figs has given to millions of families, makes the name of the Company a guaranty of tho excellence of its remedy. It is far in advunco of all other laxatives, as it acts on the kidneys, liver and bowels without irritating or weaken ing them, and it does not gripe nor nauseate. It is understood that the revenue cut1 ter Bout well Is to be moved from this station, the Boutwell is to be sent to New Berne, N. C and the Hamilton, a revenue cutter now at Philadelphia will como to the Savannah station. It is un derstood that this chango is to be made on account of the fact that the Boutwell Is a light draught boat and an old one, and will answer every purpose in the waters to which she Is to be sent. Boutwell left the city ycslerday for Jacksonville. With her was Second Lieu tenant D. F. A. DeOtte, who is well re membered here. Lieut. DeOlte left the Boutwell about three years ago, having been ordered to a station on the Pacific coast. He returned to Savannah a day or two ago, having been ordered again to the Boutwell, and sailed with her yester day. The Boutwell also has a new third lieutenant, Lieut. Blasdell, who arrived In the city yesterday, just after the de parture of the cutter fur the south. He will probably go to Jacksonville and join her there. The Boutwell has been in these waters for years, snd there sre many who will regret to see her depart. She has per formed many a worthy service In waters around Savannah, and has saved many lives and much property. Her officers always make many friends in Savannah, and not a few will regret to see her go to another station. Savannah News. TNI LSDIM. Wll This Is a white man's political cam paign. The white man's every Interest is at slske, his social, his commercial, his religion, all are In danger. The white man's family are In peril, his business Is endangered, and his future outlook under the present political con dition in North Carolina is a dark, threatening one. It is not merely that the white men shall vote for white supremacy on Nov ember 8th, next, but a great work has been and is being conducted towaids this end. Men whose physical lives ar in dan ger, will give money, allthcy possess to save themselves from death. More than a man's life Is now threat ened in North Carolina. Not only life, but honor, virtue, fam ily and all possessions are in dire Jeop- Is money of any value unless It can be employed to ward off the dangers of this negro supremacy? Tbe White people of Eastern Caroli na feel this Incubus, with its deadly alms stretching out, an insatiate monster which ruins all with its advances. " The Chairman of the State Democratic Executive Committee asks for funds to prosecute the work of securing for the people of North Carolina a clean, honest government, a white man's government, and with this work, in its tuciessful completion, will disappear the present miaina which bangs over the once grand Old North State, but a Slate now bending and groaning under the weight of Russellism and lis twin Negrolsm. . Is money anything In an extremity like the present? Is Its possession worthy of thought, when through Its agency a people can be uplifted from the slough of a rotten administration, can have their honor restored, and be enabled to look the world in the face? White men should contribute to this end with their monoy, for it means aid t ) the preservation of the rest of their property, aud even mori, the -safety of their households. White men who can , give money should no more hesitate to contribute now to Chairman Simmons, to assist In the work he is doing, than they should refuse to vole for white men on next November. : '. : '- . This is the time for liberality, this is the time to give and assist the white man's cause, first with money, then with work, then with votes. Let the -State Democratic Executive Committee receive a liberal fund to ena ble them to wurk successfully. C, Sept. 10th, 1898. To all Consigners and Consignees of Freight: Serious loss and much Inconvenience has been caused, both to the pbippers and Railroad Companies, by the unnec essary detention of cars and unloading freight. Shippers are often unable to procure cars, tracks . are encumbered, and tbe speedy movement of freight is Impossible under the prsctices that have prevailed. The Railroad Companies are obliged to correct this evil, and have issued the notice printed below. The system thus established hss been In successful operation In nearly all of the States in this country during many e.us, and with advantageous results to the public, as well as to the Railroads. Tbe amount charged is not sufficient to compensate the railroads for the use of their cars and trucks fur warehouse pur poses and is not collected for the pur pose of tevenue, but for the prevention of the detention of cars, which affects both the public and the transportation lines. The rules will bo enforced witl - out discrimination by tbe North Caroli na Car Service Association, which will act for all interests alike. . , NOTICE. 0 ' : Notice Is hereby given that, on and after Oct.
