It is said that Corbin states if troops are sent they will be ordered from Atlanta, and will be northern regi ments. The Second Regiment here, will not be used as too many of them are In sympathy with the white voters. There is scarcely the shadow of a doubt bat what there will be more or less trouble all over the State, and very serious trouble Is looked for in the east ern sections, '. The trouble at . The newspapers here today warmly praise the exposition this French side of the Faxlioda question presented by .the minister of foreign alairs, M. The Figaro says: "If the British gov ernment rejects France's moderate and just proposals it can only be because the government of Great Britain desires be fore everything else the humillstlon of France." The Siecle, after urging peace, says: France wonld hardly come off better a war with England than did Spain in the war. with the United Btates. The Presi dent desires to do nothing to give the appearance of using Federal troops at election times, when tbelr presence might affect the election. The letter of , Senator Pritchard was written before the riot near Lumberton, N. U , yesterday, and Is based on the intense race prejudice and the whole sale purchase of arms. The Senator sees trouble ahead. The white, people have bought arms in large quantities and the f colored people are buying them wherever purchasable, although it is charged that the merchants, a majority of whom are Democrats, will not sell weapons to the colored people. . . .
