An admiral on shore occupies a poal tlon distinct' from that of any other naral olHcer aud is lesnonslblu to no one b-it tbo itecrvlary of I lie Nary. It U not be leved that .Admiral l)aey would ouii sent to becomd the bead of a burosu under the drpvlmeut or UleUir command of a naval station because of his hick rank and the fact that his pre decestora never did. Admiral Porter, however, was for awhile auerentendent of the Naval Academy. Under the personnel bill the Admiral will be allowed a large sum for quarters when not furnished them at a naval station. Ills rank, It I believed, would entitle him to over $1,000 a year for quarters alone, to that approximately the Admiral will draw from the govern ment about 14,700 a year, there being no distinction In pay lor duty at tea and on shore. ; There are few, if any flags In the pos session of the Ny Department with the blue field and four white stars, In dicatlng aa admiral's rank, but It wai said today that the admiral' flee lieu tenant had probably already set the sail' maker of the flagship Olympla at work preparing one to fling to the truck when the rear admiral's flag be hauled down nd the senior ensiga tent up. Tleart tronblea, at least among the Americans, are certainly Increasing and while this' may be largely due to the ex cllcment and worry of American busl ness life, it la more often the result of weak stomachs, of poor digestion. , lteal organic disease Is incurable; but not one case in a hundred of heart trouble is organic - " Tue close relation not ween ; heart trouble and poof digestion it because both organ are controlled by the nine great nerves, the Sympathetic and Poeu mogastric. , ; " ' In another way, also the heart is ef fected by the form of poor digestion, which causes gas and fermentation from half digested food. There Is a feeling of oppression and heaviness Jn the chest caused by pressure of the distended stomach on the heart and lungs, inter ferrlng with their action; hence arises palpitation and short breath. Poor digestion also poisons the blood, making It thin and watery, which lrri tales and weakens the heart. The most enalble trestment for heart trouble' is to Improve digestion and to Insure the prompt assimilation of food, Thia can be done by the regular use after meal of some safe, pleasant and effective , digestive, - preparation, like Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets, which may be found at most drug stores and which contain valuable, harmless digestive ele ments In a pleasant, convenient form. It la safe to say that the regular per sistent use of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets at meal time will cure any form qf stoin sch trouble except cancer of the stom ach, f i .-..- ' v, ?' The western criminal circuit is new compos ed of the 10 counties of Buncombe, Hay' wood, Madison, McDowell, ' Forsyth, Burke, Henderson, Yancey, Surry and Caldwell. Vigilant employee of h railroads discovered that the "Jim Crow" bill passed, known as the Craig bill, provided that the law ahould lake effect Immedi ately on passage. Tlas canted a great commotion as the railroads ari not pre pared to provide separate accomodation upon an Instant 1101100, An .amending bill was shoved through both Houses, giving the roads until June 1st to4 make their preparations. The urgency dis played to have time to get ready shows that the railroad people are going to carry out the provisions of the law In good faith, a most welcome sign to peo ple of the east.
