In the fight here between th city and the water-work company, over a bill for water which was alleged to be to tally unlit for.uae, there seems to be no end In sight, The city has now decided to list the water-works company pro perty for taxation at a valuation of ClOO.OGO. It will still' hold op on the company's claim for f 3,440, and enter suit against th bond of th company for breach of contract, and forfeiture of franchise. ' It was not known until this tight was on that the company was not listed for taxation.' Some think the valuation should be put higher. It bonded indebtedness Is (250,000. Tha company has floated $231,000 In bonds st 6 per cent. It costs to operate the plant annually $85,000. ? It pays $14,000 interest on the bonded indebtedness. The cost of coal is $8,000 and Incidental expenses are $5,000. President Winston, of the Agricultural and Mechanical College, wishing to be come well acquainted with the farmers and their sons, will as soon as th school Is well under way, attend the teachers' institutes held In different parts' of the State. Senator Brown, of the Investigating committee for the penitentiary, Is here, but is only on private business, it having been decided that the meeting be post poned until the 23d.
