" " HADE JUMEY OR ROUND BALES. fatronsof Koundlap Gin Plants Tell Of Their Big Profits. , The past ginning season again demon strated the incomparable superiority of The American Cotton Company's Round lap bale. Not only were farmers bene fited who had their cotton put up in Roundlap bales, but even the patrons of old-style gins profited by the presence of Roundlap competition. Farmers all over the cotton stateBLave written letters to the owners of Round- lap plants telling of the profit that has come to them from having their cotton put up In Roundlap bales. Mr W F Hart ley, Sr., who patronised the Greenville, Ala., plant, wrote Feb. 8. 1900: "The most Important point in the Roundlap bsle's favor to the farmer is the advance In price above that of the square bale. It has averaged the en tire past season $3,00 per bale more than the square bale. More than $5,000 has been placed in cir culation by the advance price caused by this one press.' Mr F. M Rogers also wrote from Greenville, Ala : "t have received from to I cent per pound more than tie market price here for square bales, Ths Roundlap bale is a Godsend to the farm era, end has saved them thousands, of dollars in a few months." Mr, J. D. Relly, CentrevUle, Miss., wrote Dec. 4 1899: "Another advantage to the farmers is that Roundlap cotton brings such a good price that tbe buyers of square cotton have been forced to pat their prices up. Thus' all the farms' are benefited ins town where there is a goundlap press.' Mr. F, B. Bimonton, Temple, Tex , Nov. 13, 1899: "1. have received from $1.60 to $3.60 per bale more for my cot ton than If I had ginned and sold In the square bale. ' Besides I know that the prices The American "Cotton Company has paid for seed cotton have been the cause of those buying the square bale paying from 10 to 60 points more for it." - t -Mr. J, L, Wood, of Venus, Tex , Deo 8,1899, wrote: "Isold to the American Gotten Company at Its East Waco plant tbe first bale of ' cotton- that was ever ginned by the JJoundlap bale system in Waco, and have been selling my cotton la the seed to you since that lime.. For the last -three years, Including 1899, 1 have sold my cotton to your Venus plant.. I can safely say that I have made $2.00 per bale more by selling to you In the seed than I would hare made if I had ginned It Into square bales, besides saving a great deal of annoyance with the street buyers. Id view of the fact that the custom ginners and those op posed to the Roundlap system say that you do not let the farmer bare cotton seed I wllljuay that I have always got ten seed when I asked for It." Mr. P. B. Hall, a merchant and planter of Waynesboro, Ga, wrote Nov 10, 1899, to Messrs Wilklns A Jones, owners of the Rounlap plant at that place: "I had one lot of SO bales turned out by yon, and without saying anything to any body I put the samples on the market. All of the buyers In town bid upon same thinking it square bale cotton. One of the buyers bid 6 cents, anothef 6.87 cents, and another 6.93 cents, the latter remarking st tbe time that he was really bidding a full sixteenth more than ths lot of cotton was worth. Without know ing what bids I.had received In fact I did not tell you that anybody had bid upon it you offered and paid me 6.50 for the lot of cotton, which was a clear difference of C") points in favor of the Roundlap bale.I believe that the Round. lap bale is the bale of tho future, as It etfects a large saving of wa-ite, and 'en ablcs the planter to got a higher price fo his cotton."
