It met here last In 1893. Rev. Dr. R. H. Marsh of Oxford will preside. The number pf church members within this convention 187,000, an Increase of 7,000 over last year. There are 140,000 ' negro Baptists in the State. The contributions tot for eign, Btate and home mission, during. the year aggregate $45,000, an Increase of $3,000 over last year. This does not include educational collection. All the Baptist educational Institutions are most urh og and 1,600 students Are attend ing them. They Include Wake forest ollege for young men, the Baptist Fe male University at Balelgb, Oxford V mtle Seminary, Chowan Baptist Female institute and 49 academies, some of the latter having as many as 800 stu dents. Particular attention attaches to this convention because of the "Century elebrallon" on Sunday, December 9th, t which prominent speakers from other States will be heard, including Rev. Dr. H. Pitt, editor Kellglous Herald, Uicliuiond; Rev. Junius Millard, pasloi Outaw Place Baptlat church, Baltimore; ev. Dr. It. F. H. Kerfoot of Atlanta liev. Dr. K. J. Wllllngham of Richmond. nd Kev. Dr. J. M. Frost of Nashville; the three last named being respectively the general secretaries of the foreign mission, home mission and Sunday School bourJs, of the Southern Baptist Convention.
