C, Decembers. An increase os the rebate allowed upon beer stamps from seven . and one-half per cent, to twenty per cent, was decided upon by the Republican majority of the Wajs and Means Committee. This means that tbe net tax upon beer will be reduced from $1.65 per barrel to $1.60 per barrel. The reduction of revenue caused by this change will bo about 9 000,000, and will raise the total reduc tions under the House bill to nearly $40,000,000.
