The Methodist church In our little
town was today December 5th, a scene
long to be remembered by those whose
pleasure it was to witness it. The
church was mpsl beautifully decorated
and presented an effect that charmed
the lovers of taste and beauty.
Promptly at 8 o'cleck, Hiss Bessie
Miller in a most graceful and artistic
manner played the wedilng march, and
as the keys of the organ gave music as
beautiful aa a snow flake from heaven
the following couples walked up the two
aisles, Miss Carrie Lee and Mr Joe
Rice, Miss Annie Lawrence of Green
ville and Mr. Willie Miller, Miss Mollie
Sawyer and Mr. H. C. Mayo.

Hooker, 8. A. Redding.

The bride, Miss Ella Louvenla Sawyer
Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon
Sawyer. She Is a most attractive young
lady, richly endowed with those lovely
Christian traits of character, which
makes ber universally popular with
a large olrcle of friends and admirers.
The groom, Hon. W. T. Caho, Is one
ot the leading attorneys of Eastern Car
ollna, and Editor of the Enterprise. He
is exceedingly popular and counts bis
friends by the hundreds.

love and esteem in which tbey ant
held.

Tax Comes off Beer.
Washington, D. C, Decembers. An
increase os the rebate allowed upon beer
stamps from seven . and one-half per
cent, to twenty per cent, was decided
upon by the Republican majority of the
Wajs and Means Committee. This
means that tbe net tax upon beer will be
reduced from $1.65 per barrel to $1.60
per barrel. The reduction of revenue
caused by this change will bo about 9
000,000, and will raise the total reduc
tions under the House bill to nearly
$40,000,000.
