The Legislature will now begin to rush Us word .' o far It has been rather leisurely, with only ono night session. The chairman of the joint finance committee remarked today that ouly IS days more remain. The bill passed the House today creating the board of State examiners to visit, inspect and repott on all State or state aided institutions, with the amend ment requested by the Republicans that one of the three members should be from the minority party. Thi Governor appoints this board. A bill was Introduced in the Senate today to secure evidence for the suppres ston of gambling. Tbe divorce bill was argued and a warm protest was made against allow ing divorce for abandonment. No vote was reached today on the divorce bill. The bill passed to incorporate the Soutbport, Wilmington and Durham Railroad. An Important bill was passed amend ing tho code regarding judgments against homesteads. Tho revenue bill will be reported to morrow. There has been a great fight over It in committee. It was mainly prepared by representative Willard, who has rinsacked tbe tax laws of all tbe Slate to find subjects of taxation and measures of getting taxes. He does not al all relish the striking out of taxes, and said lodsy; "All that is needed is for some one to appear and argue against a tax and out It goes."
