Too. Much Rain in Eastern Sections'. Raleigh, July-16 The Weekly Crop Bulletin for week ending Monday, July 15th, Is as follows! The weather during the past week was favorable for crops throughout s large portion of tbe western district, snd Slong tbe northern border of the State until Saturday. The most Important fea ture was the development of two storms on the North Carolina coast. The first tos confined to the Immediate coast, and caused heavy rains in the east on the 8th and some damage to orops by high northeast wtiids. A local very heavy and damaging rain also occurred on that date over several western coun ties, chiefly Davie, Lincoln, Mecklen burg, Catswbs, snd Iredell. -The second stormjtsrted nesr Wilmington Friday, 12th, snd the rain area gradually spread over(the entire State, bringing on the average about three inches of precipita tion, and causing froshets In the rivers. The temperature during the week was about normal, ami no extremely high msxima were reported. The amount ot sunshine waa deficient. In many western and northern coun ties crops made favorable progress, but In the east and south too much rain In terfered again with farm work, and has started grass to growing rapidly In most all cropB. Bottom lands are In very bad condition, and hardly any results are ex pected from them. The weather has been a little cool for cotton, and the rainy, damp conditions since the 12th is causing It to develop too much weed. Corn on uplands Is doing well, and In all sections where It was suffering from drought the crop was Improved by rain. Oblnch bugs are doing some damage In a few counties. Tobacco Is growing fast and there is some fear of Its taking on a second growth. Cutting and curing are proceeding slowly in the east, and top ping Is ggneral In the central portion Ptanut and iWect potatoes are good Threshing wheat continues; s llllli wheat left In shock was damaged by ex cesalve moisture. Field peas are gro Ing nicely. Some hay was saved during the week and .meadows are In fine condition, but the work now awaits drier weather. Orapes appear to be rotting badly, and the rainfall has been too much for melons; anions are ripening sud some are coming lato market. The general outlook for crops continue unpromis ing. - Rainfall for the week at selected sta tion!
