A short cotton crop is s serious thing to the merchants ss well' as the fanners, for if the farmer fails to pay the mer chant it leaves the merchant in a bad fix and this year the crop In oar vicinity is shorter than we have ever seen it before. While the acreage is about doable that of last year the crop will fall far short of last year's.
