P. Cle ments, n Seaboard Air Line conductor from the attack of four negroes. The negroes were angry because Clements forced them out of the white coach into the Jim Crow car. The fight occurred on the passenger trein which had left Henderson. Mitchell the wounded porter was brought to Raleigh. Three negroes In cluding Joe Cole are In Jail at Hender son. The body of Stevens wss also taken t cullender ton. Great excitement existed foretime snd it was feared that the men would be lynched bat It grew quieter. Before the shooting Capt. Clements had ordered the men Into the colored car and had passed tn there himself and was collecting fares.
