State Superintendent J Y Joyner to day at Greenville addressed the Teach ers Association of Pitt county.. The search among the great mass of laws enacted by the Legislature contin ues. - Inquiries regarding these pour In from all parts of the State. No less than 9 Insurance companies were chartered by the last Legislature, this breaking .the record atone ses sion. It was expected ' last year that the shops of the S. A. L. here which were burned early in 1890 would be rebuilt, but nothing has been done , and there Is now no prospect of anything being done. Under the new law the cost por acre for public lands entered Is fifty cents. It Is expected that amendments made to the law regarding these lands will largely Increase the State revenue. Heretofore all the brick made at the penitentiary has been made by hand, and the work has not been remuneratlve.but now a brick making machine is to be put In. The appropriation bill passed by the legislature requires the State to appro priate this year for the support and maintenance of the A. & M.
