Superintendent J. M. Miller of the hospital for ths colored insane at Golds boro says it Is entirely full, there being 584 patlenlsjnore than three fifths of whom are women. Dating the past week eight applications hare been re ceived, six from women. There are 387 male patients and 194 beds. Some men ere to be brought here from the Western Hospital. The reports to the agricultural depart ment of this State, upon which the re turns of ciops, with per centage of aoie- ags condition, etc, are based, are coming in quite rapidly. So far as received they show an Increase of about 90 per cent In the aoreage of cotton, whlce is somewhat larger than was expected, previous esti mates having been from 13 to 85 per cent. It Is very clear the farmers have planted cotton to the very limit. The leporls as to the fruit crop make a much better showing as to per centage than was expected.
